that chord trick always sounds dodgy. not just because of the sample changing speed - in traditional harmonic music theory, as you build chords based around a key or scale, the chords change depending on what degree of the scale you are building the chord on.

eg, if your track is in the key of C Major, the chords for each degree of the scale are:

C Major, D Minor, E minor, F major, G major, A minor, B half-diminished

^ all of those triads are made with natural notes in the C major scale, if you simply transpose a major or minor chord statically using 16 levels, you're actually including a lot of notes outside of your key.

Not that using that 16 levels tuning trick on a chord sample is a bad thing, it's just different, which is why chord/scale modes would be a great addition.

Maschine now has scales and chords built in. pretty dope you can play chords with one pad and the scales are mapped out to the pads (pad 1- 1st note in scale pad 2- 2nd note in scale)

Which software version is this on please? I imagine it'll work on MK1 too?

Had to remember this maschine is an almost 6 years old product vs a 2yo one...anyway
as much as I like this chord feature...man learn some **** music theory, and there you go!
By pituchez Thu Nov 27, 2014 1:50 am
naw **** that..
i dont want to have to learn shit..
and 6 year old vs what? a **** 20/30 year old maschine.

im pretty sure they couldve just extracted the code or wht ever the **** the old hardware did and all that to this new one and then build on that..
