Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

This looks terrible :vomit: . AKAI should stop trying to compete with NI on a software level and listen to the feedback from their customers. I've given up on AKAI, the MPC Renaissance doesn't even work with my brand new Macbook (and I'm not the only one) :WTF: . I hope Roland release a standalone follow up to the SP-555/404SX that can load sounds directly via usb and sequence within any DAW as a plugin via MIDI.

I'm interested in how many current Ren owners will be buying the Touch. For any Ren owners reading this who want to chime in, I'd be interested to hear. Because I'm definitely going to hold off. Mainly because I'm not interested in learning a new workflow. What's the point of using an MPC if it involves a new workflow?

I think the Touch looks cool and i definitely feel the pull of wanting a new slick black unit with nice pads and a shiny screen, but in reality I have no use for it. Current Ren owners-what do u think?

I think that at some point I'll try the "Touch", but I'm not as enthusiastic about a touchscreen as I was years ago.

I'm using an iPad for years. When the first music apps came out I was like: "Wow, it's a revolution! The ultimate in creativity, never going back to the computer blablabla"
But of course I went back to the computer ( and my MPCs ).
Drawing waveforms with your fingers is nice, but at some point you'll miss the precision of an encoder or a mouse. Same for "drawing FX" etc. For the first time it's fun, but after a while...
For me, the "toucht hing" has lost it's magic already. Not all, but quite a lot of it.
It remains to be seen if it REALLY will speed up the workflow or if it's just a temporary distraction from the current workflow.
I can't help it, but atm the "Touch" looks like a toy to me. :?

I have been using the MPC Ren for almost two years and currently I don't think I will be buying the MPC Touch. Like you said, the Touch looks nice, but I think it's more or less to be considered a toy. Working with a touch screen may be nice for some work steps, but in the end you have to use encoders or knobs anyway in order to precisely determine start and end points of slices, for example. I don't think that's possible with the touch screen. If the Touch was a standalone device, I would consider to buy it as mobile device, but even then I would have to think twice, considering the price. It's not like I wouldn't want to spend any money. If there was a new MPC flagship, a Ren 2 of some sort, I would be very interested, even if it wasn't a standalone device. I love my Ren and honestly, I was even thinking about getting a second one in case mine stops working some day. For now, I prefer to wait and see what and if Akai has something else up their sleeve.

My sentiments exactly. The Ren is superb and I've grown to love it, warts and all. I'm happy to wait for a Ren 2 :)

Got the Touch instead...

Have you got it on pre order?

No, I don't think I'll be ordering it TBH.
Gimme 1.9 and a few much-requested features and I'll be happy.

I hate the the lcd's resolution on the Ren. The 4000, 5000 and JJOS XL screen should have been the standard.

As Pete and company add more options the screen gets more and more cluttered. Of course you can get used to it and make music like there is no tomorrow.

The Touch though, everything is a button press away, and you still have a qlink for fine adjustments.

That's the biggest plus for me, enough to get rid of my 1000 with large screen.

Not to sh.t in your cereal, it's probably going to be buggy as f.ck.
So, don't go suck Geoff and Pete's d.cks yet....hahah
