Let's get this straight...

You've just bought your first MPC and you think it's the best thing since sliced bread, right? But not content with that, you want to troll every **** post where someone's opinion doesn't align with yours? **** outta here you twat!

Great!

Let's hear what you're actually doing with this amazing additional power then? It seems like you're too busy trolling the forum to be using your new toy.

It's the opposite. It was you whom engaged ME with your half-witted hostilities, rather than rationally argue your position with even one valid point, loser. It hardly matters, though. Indeed, looking back, I've made the point for Akai's decision, and your best defense was "I'll never get a laptop. I hate laptops."

I'd accuse YOU of being an tub-pooping child, if I didn't think you were more likely a diaper-filling old man, impotently waving his virtual cane at the certain advance of new tech and new talent that heralds that final visit from the horrible, shrouded reaper.

You respond to every single defense of the MPC Touch with palpable rage, instead of civil, considered debate. On top of which, you try to drag other folks into your swampy bull****, and instigate some type of lame force field, rather than stand up and defend your position. That makes you the troll.

So go shove your figs up a cup, creep.

i think flagship no longer means the highest end product by akai... or most fully featured... but it means the current thing on the front burner of the stove in the sales department.

it needs lightpipe or what ever the equivalent is these days to add a full set of ins and outs.. sends/returns.. etc.. but without having it all on the back of the unit where that would make the unit harder to move around the desk or lap. how about a breakaway box to be left in the studio rack with loads of CV in and out (since that is really a thing these days) as well as midi ins and outs.. make the thing a real master sequencer with extreme ease of use, and flexibility.. that was one of the main MPC features that brought it to the forefront, more so than the sampler (which was balanced out by the s-series) .

or **** it... continue to make midi controllers integrated with little daw like apps in the low to midrange market.

What does this even mean?!!

I've been positively glowing about the Touch compared to the Ren, but it still doesn't tick every box for me unfortunately. Not that I need to justify my needs to anyone on here.

At least that was halfway civil.

I'll drop it.

Sorry you took me the wrong way.

Now that the dust has settled a little, let me reiterate one thing, so you understand my position.

I've been on "Team Standalone" for tears. I've always opted for hardware solutions vs. software. I'm a drummer, natively, but had terrible luck when I tried a drum controller. Much better luck w/ a dedicated Roland V-Tour. When I wanted to shrink the footprint, I waited until the SamplePad Pro dropped, because it is a standalone. I love it.
I have a Wavedrum. Love it. I have my old Alesis Micron. Love it. I had a lot of headaches, in years past, with Computer-based workflow. Seems like there was always a performance issue, or a configuration hassle that made no sense.

Picking up the Touch was an impulse that goes against my historic disdain. I guess the lack of current standalone sampler / sequencers, coupled w/ the sexiness of the Form factor convinced me to take a shot. That's when I discovered that it was a totally painless and silk-smooth experience. It changed my whole opinion. I only wanted to convey that. Is it that the laptop is particularly nice, and running Mac OS, vs Windows, which always gave me trouble in the past? Maybe.

Would I sell the Touch for the same thing, in standalone form? 6 months ago, I would have said yes. Now, I'm not so sure. Would I get all the AIR synths that I got with this product? Doubtful. And I must say, those are pretty nice synths.

Rather not, just too busy these days, so please take the arguments to PM or email boys and keep the thread on topic.

It's already dropped.

It does look good regardless. But i'll stick to my audio technica direct drive. The studio redesign does look better I will admit.

Well, the Touch is not the flagship, more like the wedge between the Ren and the Studio.

We won't see another Ren until 2.0 is done or until Maschine unveils their new flagship.

Just sit back and enjoy 2016, year of competing companies.

You don't need to keep outlining or defending your position. You like what you like and that's fine. Likewise, fans of hardware MPCs shouldn't need to dodge MPC controller evangelists on this forum. What's shiny and new today will be nothing but landfill a few years down the line when it no longer works. That's 'progress' apparently. In the meantime, all the most sought after MPCs from the 80s and 90s work fine if they've been looked after. That's what we pay a premium for. Longevity.

So yeah, Akai are either hyping up the fact that they have big plans for the software and additional controllers/hardware, or their marketing team were just bored when they added that phrase to the end of the video. Let's see how things pan out...

yeah i gotta say... for technical shit.. the mpc was never my go to thing (i am a daw user.. so) but you cant knock the fact that what they did great then, they still do now.. including the 60 which is over 25 years old now... it still sequences gear, it still sounds good... i still have my original sensors and pads and they still work. i have the mpd16 and that only works through midi out now because the USB driver for windows xp was the latest one they made and that one blue screens vista and later versions... this will possibly be the case with all these newer pieces of kit too.

I think you guys are mostly confused as to what a so called "flagship" actually is.

Its a companies Main Product. The product they are/intend to make the most money on. That product is the MPC in general. All of these different models are nothing more than versions or iterations of that product which the main purpose is to keep their flagship product afloat in the marketplace amongst the newer players like NI. A Flagship would indicate a product that has remained in the market for years on end as the companies Bread & Butter. The MPC in general is the flagship, not the **** Touch or Ren.

I think your confused. MPC is the product line, flagship is the main product that is superior to a companies eyes. The Studio is not greater than the Ren. Ren is discontinued so Touch will continue until Ren 2 appears, the flagship model.
