What does this even mean?!!
I've been positively glowing about the Touch compared to the Ren, but it still doesn't tick every box for me unfortunately. Not that I need to justify my needs to anyone on here.
At least that was halfway civil.
I'll drop it.
Sorry you took me the wrong way.
Now that the dust has settled a little, let me reiterate one thing, so you understand my position.
I've been on "Team Standalone" for tears. I've always opted for hardware solutions vs. software. I'm a drummer, natively, but had terrible luck when I tried a drum controller. Much better luck w/ a dedicated Roland V-Tour. When I wanted to shrink the footprint, I waited until the SamplePad Pro dropped, because it is a standalone. I love it.
I have a Wavedrum. Love it. I have my old Alesis Micron. Love it. I had a lot of headaches, in years past, with Computer-based workflow. Seems like there was always a performance issue, or a configuration hassle that made no sense.
Picking up the Touch was an impulse that goes against my historic disdain. I guess the lack of current standalone sampler / sequencers, coupled w/ the sexiness of the Form factor convinced me to take a shot. That's when I discovered that it was a totally painless and silk-smooth experience. It changed my whole opinion. I only wanted to convey that. Is it that the laptop is particularly nice, and running Mac OS, vs Windows, which always gave me trouble in the past? Maybe.
Would I sell the Touch for the same thing, in standalone form? 6 months ago, I would have said yes. Now, I'm not so sure. Would I get all the AIR synths that I got with this product? Doubtful. And I must say, those are pretty nice synths.
