for anyone who want to have an idea of the price, I've added the PCB price + assembling fees + components and the price seems to be near 22 euros for the inverter + led strip. without the shipping costs.
but we must have a pre-order of 10pcs to start a complete panel assembly. the prototypes are hand made xD
the other problem is the shipping costs when you are far from France.

Excellent news.

A version of this for the MPC 2000/XL would surely extend the life of the LCD too.

yes, perhaps a poll will be a good idea. but wait for Horseclick to test the prototype and get its feedback on how it's easy to install when you do not have a high skill in electronics :)

i will be installing the day that i get it so hopefully none of you guys will have to wait long.

anything in particular you guys want to know ?

my main concern is removing the cf tube and glueing the leds in that plastic bit, everything else looks straight forwrd and i do believe Frank has got all the connectors so no need to snip any wires......

I took the time to hand mount the prototype this evening.
here are some pictures.

I've used the same connectors and hole positions as the original one so it's a "drop in" replacement.

did you use much force after you removed the plastic screws?
