Its just I see how many people are getting disillusioned with Akai / MPC's and I'm trying to picture how actively they are responding to it......
I'd be interested to know what people
assume to be the size of the development team at Akai.
But with regards to the general disillusion, yes I agree, announcing it with big fanfare back in January with trade show demos, press releases, 'new product release' flyers etc and then going completely dark about it is ridiculous. IMO if you are going to let the cat out of the bag you have to maintain that line of communication throughout the rest of the development process. Perhaps just a monthly update of progress, the odd teaser video, a request or two for feedback on proposed features/workflow. All we have so far is a cryptic tweet from Pete.
It's like they just make these quick off-the-cuff decisions 'right, let's let everyone know about 2.0, we're a cool, forward thinking company that wants to engage our customers!', and then have some kind of odd, schizophrenic remorse and decide to completely clam up and hide away until the product is finished. It's no wonder that virtually every reply to their announcements on Facebook are along the lines of 'Yeah, but where's 2.0?' (or 'Where's the standalone?').
I know Akai have probably got bigger fish to fry.....but this is still quite a significant fish.....
What bigger fish are there for Akai other than their (existing and potential) customers?
