Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

A reliable source. I don't want to get the person in trouble. But you never know, they could have been just gassing me up.

If I had to guess, it's probably 2.0. It's always fun to see new gear though, I wouldn't mind seeing an MPC Legacy.

i'm sure the pioneer sp-16 owners are willing to pay an upgrade price for a 2.0 as well... haha

I wouldn't be surprised, if another MPC is released with the 2.0

hmm so is it gonna be a thing where we (Ren,Touch, etc) have to pay for the update and the update will obviously be free with whatever new MPC they decide to drop? :?:

It's inevitable that people are going to get 2.0 included with future hardware purchases, be it a new MPC or a Touch or Studio.

When I bought a Maschine Mikro, 'Maschine 2.0' had just been released and I got 2.0 for free while existing owners were having to pay $99 to upgrade from 1.8. So great deal for me - however one day they'll release Maschine 3.0 and as an existing owner I'll have to pay for it while new customers get it for free. It's the circle of life.

In the end, you bought a product ages ago that runs 1.x software, you didn't even know that it was ever going to get a '2.0'. If 2.0 ever gets released, you can keep your MPC running 1.x for free or choose to pay to upgrade your entire product to get the new features in 2.0. It's your choice, you don't have to upgrade. Or you can sell it and if a new MPC comes out you could buy that one and get 2.0 'for free'.

I love how it looks. I can't wait to see how the audio track/arrange view looks.

this might be a stupid question.....but out of general curiosity.......does anyone know what the actual setup is with the development of 2.0? Like, is there a dedicated team of developers working on it daily? or is it a more casual afterthought kind of affair?

Its just I see how many people are getting disillusioned with Akai / MPC's and I'm trying to picture how actively they are responding to it......

I know Akai have probably got bigger fish to fry.....but this is still quite a significant fish.....

I'd be interested to know what people assume to be the size of the development team at Akai.

But with regards to the general disillusion, yes I agree, announcing it with big fanfare back in January with trade show demos, press releases, 'new product release' flyers etc and then going completely dark about it is ridiculous. IMO if you are going to let the cat out of the bag you have to maintain that line of communication throughout the rest of the development process. Perhaps just a monthly update of progress, the odd teaser video, a request or two for feedback on proposed features/workflow. All we have so far is a cryptic tweet from Pete.

It's like they just make these quick off-the-cuff decisions 'right, let's let everyone know about 2.0, we're a cool, forward thinking company that wants to engage our customers!', and then have some kind of odd, schizophrenic remorse and decide to completely clam up and hide away until the product is finished. It's no wonder that virtually every reply to their announcements on Facebook are along the lines of 'Yeah, but where's 2.0?' (or 'Where's the standalone?').

I know Akai have probably got bigger fish to fry.....but this is still quite a significant fish.....

What bigger fish are there for Akai other than their (existing and potential) customers?

I expect their fish frying would be focussed on whatever products generate their largest revenue....which I very much doubt would be MPC's

Tutor nailed it. Couldn't say it better.

Exactly: putting out a big show about it in style, then say absolutely nothing. That doesn't make any sense.
I'd say Akai absolutely sucks at marketing; a little video, even on IG, about 2.0 and its features would be cool and make people think they actually ARE working on it. It'd maintain the relationship the customers and keep them hungry – in a good way. Now people are like starving wolves ready to bite their ass every chance they get (all those comments on every GB and IG post about "Where's 2.0").
Now it's like, we haven't heard one word on it after the trade show. They could've stopped working on it for all we know.

And I agree that MPCs probably are their biggest fish to fry, so better handle that well.

Well MPCs should be Akai Pro's biggest source of revenue, they have no other products with such a rich 'iconic' history behind them. If MPCs are not comprising the lion's share of their income, then they've really **** up somewhere.

You might well be right, but I find it quite surprising if that is true.......they've discontinued the Renaissance and dropped the price on the Touch......I cant imagine why they would've done that if those products were proving lucrative...

so now the Studio & the Touch are the only MPC's available..........oh and Element, but that's not really an MPC

They'll probably get something out by the next trade show. If not, dear god they're gonna get absolutely *roasted* there about it.
And no new belt-driven turntable in the world is gonna save them from that!
