Hi All,

Looking for some help and advise here..... Do you know about the FL Studio SliceX regions when you chop samples?

What I'm after is exactly this but in MPC, for those who aren't familiar:

Let's say you have a sample, chopped so that you have 4 chops as below:
1---2---3---4---

Is it possible to tweak them somehow, so that when I hit sample/pad 1 (with note-on) the sample will play for as long as I'm holding it and it won't stop at the second sample start time, it will play all over to the end so that it will stop after 4th chop.

Hope this explains it all?

Currently, with note-on the sample will only play to the end of sample 1 or where 2nd sample starts.

I think this will be helpful to have it like this when playing drums.

A workaround for this is to load the original un-chopped sample 4 times and make the start at each sample, however, I will end up with too many room being taken by samples.

Any ideas?

@dustymaestro: if I have have one drum break that's 5 MB and if I copy the same 5 times that will take 25 MB from my disk and not just 5, that's what I want to avoid.

@greavous420: I'm aware of this but don't think this helps here.

The one work around I found (apart from dustymaestro suggestion) is to load a sample once and assign the same sample break to the pads. In Program Edit, select all pads and change all from ALL to PAD, this will give you an option to amend each pad start time. If you change this it will allow you to hit pad 1 and this will continuously play to the end of the sample, if you hit another pad, this will start playing and it will mute the first pad (if Mute Group Set/all samples set to mono), remember to change start times to see the difference.

This is not the best\easiest way as it is difficult to manually tweak the knob to assign the start time you wish.

Hope this explains what I'm after.

Thanks!

I was going to suggest pad start/end but you beat me to it. I'm not familiar with the exact FL Studio functionality, but I think the pad start/end option is about the best you can do with the MPC.

Remember you can go into SAMPLE EDIT and hit the PROGRAM button and then hit the relevant pad. This way you can edit the pad start/end points in SAMPLE EDIT mode which is more intuitive than doing it in PROGRAM EDIT mode.

Or you could load the one sample go in to manual chop and at the top right of the screen and turn link off so now you will have all the chops of one sample and the 1st chop will continue to play all the way to the end of the whole sample until you plat another chop!!!

@texasrida1: I was actually thinking about this workflow yesterday while slicing but I guess I was carried out and forgot about it. Will give it a try later today.

@greavous420: LOL hahaha.... 8-)
