E.g., I run a one-man mixing and mastering company, doing m&m every day. It's of the utmost importance to me to keep my clients updated and maintain open communication. I can't afford to say "I'll send your album on Tuesday" and then be all quiet till Friday, if I need more time; in that case I'd sure as heck inform my client of the delay on Monday night or Tuesday noon and say I'm sorry. Everyone can take that. But if you say nothing and let people wait, they'll go elsewhere, you can be sure of that. There's always a competitor or a few that people can run to.
I.e., don't rely on people's patience too long if you give them nothing while they're waiting on you.
To me, that's like a red cloth to a bull, and I always drop those people out of my life (gotta say that during my music career, I've worked with way too many people like that and I just can't take it, as it always makes me feel I'm not respected, and with those people, I won't work with).
u speaking common sense however we did not directly pay akai to deliver a project in a specific timeframe as per the case u gave with ur clients.
we brought a product and when and if they update it is down to them; also NI left maschine users hanging for 2 years while they proceeded to flog them sample pack after sample back, and drip feed them the most menial updates.
so this is not a Japanese thing this is most of the companies in general; they are not responsive, and its good we have social media so we can get at them publicly.
Yeah, my example isn't fitting 1:1 of course and I realize that.
I guess how I feel is that some people probably bought a Touch/Ren pretty soon after the NAMM show and they probably feel a bit salty at this point.
