Give me a Vari-phrase type time-stretch/pitch algorithm for KEYGROUPS and I am happy.

Imagine constructing entire sampled synth libraries from one measly sample......

My suggestion would to be just buy a synth, play or program the midi in and drive it from the Mpc. Bring it back in when your ready.

Personally I hope Akai doesn't add any of their own synths. Leave that to the big boys. Just concentrate on the unit and UI in the software. Don't be bog it down. Stick with key groups.

If it was only the X id agree. But Live is clearly aimed at portable/no cables etc. Makes sense for there to be an onboard synth? I have hardware synths but dig the idea of the Live with sofa jams etc in mind, so I don't wanna have to drag my other gear around too, kinda defeats the idea ;) Not a dealbreaker either way tho. Keygroups are a much better workaround/alternative than on a lot of boxes :)

Im really diggin MPC live for sofa jam sessions, etc.. and not be tied to a computer until i need to be. With MPC live, the development of Keygroups seems idea. I plan on Getting live and putting a internal HD in it for more storage of sounds that i have collected over time (Masada, Cycle Kit, Multi Samples from Tutor, etc...) This will allow me to have my favorite sounds (Drums, Synths, Pianos, etc..) at all times.. Hybrid and Xpand get alot of work done with the MPC Touch. But further development, and more keygroup packages would make MPC Live, Very LIVE.. Honestly, the VSTi plugin situation i wouldnt really sweat with keygroups available.

This would be killer.. I thought I saw somewhere that there is confirmed time-strech on Keygroup/16 levels pitch etc in v2? Maybe I imagined it.. Great feature on my korg Microsampler and miss it on my Op1. Hope akai have put it in there..

I'd rather see Akai concentrate on developing the keygroup program type; more lfos, better envelope, better filters, keygroup crossfading, combining velocity switching and round robins within a keygroup, etc. That way sound designers can concentrate on bring out libraries that take advantage of all the features available.

Regarding synths, I'd imagine we'll eventually see hybrid 3 or some other synth(s) in the standalone software, there was only so much they could get done for 2.0.

True indeed MT, I agree. I personally don't need a synth in a stand alone. Funny thing is a lot of people ask for it and they have all these synths and they don't use them all or plugins such as effects etc. Seems to me people just wanna complain just because they wanna do it. It's really ridiculous.

I wasn't complaining about the lack of synth. Just saying it would be used A LOT if I had one in there and it was decent. And with the touchscreen they could do something interesting if they wanted to. Not everyone makes the same music/needs the same tools.. Just cos you don't use synths a lot in your day to day it doesn't mean no one else does ;) I'm hyped about Live either way. So much in this box, if it's solid then Akai have set a new bar.

MPC X

What are the system specs of the MPC X?

The MPC X has its own embedded system which sports a 1.8GHz quad core processor and 2GB of RAM.

For internal storage, the MPC X has 16GB on board. There are 10GB of studio quality sounds pre-loaded and another 6GB for you to work with. You can use the 2 onboard USB ports to add more samples or to provide extra storage. There is also a compartment on the bottom of the MPC X which houses a SATA port for installing an optional HDD or SDD.

I am really feeling this MPCX I love that you can have additional hard drives, one internal then you can connect two more usb I freakin love that. I will get an SSD for the internal, one question though is it going to be a 2.5 SSD or 3.5 SSD hard drive size for the X? Seems like it would be more of a 2.5 SSD.

I have a swapple dock already and some hard drives ready. 2 TB only cost me $49 bucks which is great.
The specs of this machine is way more than I need or expected but I tell ya, I ain't mad at Akai LOL I am loving this.
Seen the video on how to export your loops out of MPCX and send them to your computer, That is the most exciting thing for me. Its going to be fun as I work and this is what I been waiting for. I can do complex drums without having to fix any midi notes and work fast, that is the other thing I love. That sequencer. Nothing is like it, and I can do it in Stand alone mode.

When they put phantom power on it +48 I was not expecting that! Neither the stereo meter monitor on it, I was like Oh ssshhhhhhhhhh*** lol If Akai would of put a fader on it I would of peed in my pants in the middle of Times Square on a Yellow cab in New York City LOL hahahah ctfu lol

Wifi really shocked me, like ok, and they have a new LPD8 in wifi? I rock the LPD8 but it's not wifi. But I don't know if I will get into the wifi thingy just yet.

Now here's the blaster for me:
"The MPC X has its own embedded system which sports a 1.8GHz quad core processor and 2GB of RAM."

That's way more power than I need, but hey, I ain't going to complain about it LOL That's a beautiful thing. Quad core proc. that's dope.
I'm really impressed by what Akai did.

What's dope about the track amount on the 2.0 is it went from 128 tracks to unlimited as much as your computer can handle that's tight.

Well I really wasn't talking about you per say. Um well, I do a lot of RnB, Pop and Trap music so, I do use a lot of synths etc. I use Pianos, Strings (Eastwest) Bass, etc. I use the hell out of Omnisphere 2, Nexus 2, Sylenth, Lethal, Eastwest complete collection, Reason 9 ( Virus Ti Polar Refill, Hollywood Film Strings, Euphonic Strings, MoPhat, Motif ES, XS, and XF, Roland refill 2080, Triton Rack refill) and the list is to extensive to keep typing so yes I use the hell outta some synths LOL I use them in my DAWs of choice.

Like I said earlier if Akai does do the synth Thingy they will make it native, that makes more sense because they will be able to code it quicker without waiting on a third party company to do it. They can make it the size of the view in either X or Live screen.

People are asking for Vsts/i in the stand alone when you get that in the 2.0 software. They are bugging if they think that's going to happen and Akai never said they would do that.

So if you get your synth I will be happy for you. For your sake I hope you get your wish.

The WiFi feature maybe an app Akai is working on. You can upload your tracks directly from the MPC to your Android or iPhone without a router or computer. I don't know exactly but I do have a Tascam 44WL and that has WiFi which does what I mentioned.

According to Akai's Faq page it's 2.5 drive size

Can I add additional storage space?

Yes! The MPC X and MPC Live both feature two (2) USB ports for connecting thumb drives and other USB storage devices, an SD card slot for standard SD/SDHC cards, as well as a port for adding an additional 2.5" SATA drive (either HDD or SSD). Virtually all drive sizes are supported, but we recommend formatting drives to FAT32, NTFS or EXT4 for the best results. SATA drives will be mounted to the compartment door with the included screws.

Word up, I was planning to rock a Motorola bluetooth speaker with the Live.

But you can hook bluetooth anyway to any device with a transmitter and a receiver. Its just better if it came internally in the box.
