I believe so. The hardware MPC is based on 2.0 software so yes it can work.

If you plan to buy the Studio, now would be the time to enjoy a free upgrade to 2.0 when it drops. There is a grace period of 4 months for users that bought a Studio, Ren and Touch, after that and the release of the X and Live, things could change.

Will you be okay with the low resolution screen? If so then go for it.

Ok, great. Ah, thanks for the software heads up. I'm using Cubase now, looking to try something new, I've been on Cubase for over 10'years, looking for a new look and workflow. So yea, I've already got an interface I like, I'm liking the idea of having sampling and triggering and a new control surface to work with. This would be a good fit. The X looks nice, but I don't really need stand alone. Also, since the Studio has an older style screen, I'm assuming my DAW monitor should work great to see what I doing.

I haven't used a MPC Studio yet, but with the 2.0 software, wouldn't I just use my Computer monitor? Or am I missing something? I guess I'm thinking of the hardware as a simple DAW controller, and clip launch device with pads and scroll knobs. Wouldn't all the wave files for chopping be reflected on the computer monitor?

Of course. Even though 2.0 is a touch-screen thing, Akai's technicians are making it compatible for Ren and Studio users. Perhaps features that are available on-screen are assigned to the F keys for Studio users.

what about the mpc x pads? they're like the ones on the touch? got new fat pads for the ren - are they supposed to work in the mpc x?

I've never seen anything about the pads on that matter. I will leave the pads the way they are.
They will probably make fat pads for the X and Live.

I heard the pads of the X and Live are fatter than on the Ren this time.

I think the Live pads are identical to the Touch, which are awesome, fat, and mad responsive.

Was thinking about wooden panels on the Live but the sides look like it has vents. X looks doable to do that though.

Yes sir !!! I can't wait. I wish they had it out already dam. Yes I will video the unboxing of the MPCx. I will make a couple of vids doing music with it.
