There were some questions earlier in the thread about what the MPC X has compared to MV8800 and someone here in a recent post mentioning that someone should list a hardware sampler with 1/10 the features. I urge you to check out the new thread on mv8800 in other samplers forum to see realtime time stretching demonstrated, equivalent to clip launch beat matched pattern play, pattern roll besides pad roll, the functions of VSS mastering, ME50 guitar fx and modeling, SH-101 style built in bass synth, direct to disk recording, auto chop, SP-808 style phrase sampling, MPC style swing, emulation of SP 1200 style lofi, and a whole lot more under the hood than most people know about.

Gear chat video featuring Mike Acosta back on MV8800 and they mention how excited they are for the MPC X and called it the next evolution in 16 pad sampler gear. They love the X too.

I'm sure there is room to appreciate both and why I still want an X.

I agree. The MV8800 already does what the new MPC Live and X can do and more. The MV8800 just needs a faster CPU and updated GUI. It's a shame that Roland hasn't put out a MKII model, yet.

I still plan on buying a MPC Live (as long as the software is stable) to use at gigs. :)

When the MV dropped I was sick of Roland operating systems at the time so I gave it a miss. Watching videos of it now it just looks clunky to me. It's cool that a few people like it though. 8)

Its insane for real, I won't lie. But I gotta see it loose on the public first before I toss that kinda dough, get real hands on opinions.

I am planning to build a little work-desk, its gonna be a masterpiece

Yep me too, I was set on the Live initially mostly because I couldn't justify spending that much more for the X which does practically the same thing with fewer buttons. The X won me over though and it's what I will be getting if it gets good reviews.

You think Roland going to come with a touch screen and controller?
Ill-Green wrote:Yeah, MV is an ox. Actually OS 1.01 changed the MV entirely. Those early 8000 adopters had it bad but by the time the 8800 came, everything became air-tight on the machine.

I don't think they thought it up yet, but now with the X and Live, they might be inspired to create something. But the original owner of Roland is a sampler-fanatic and he retired in 2009, since then the sampler department has been lacking big time and no enthusiasm either. MV8800 was the last of innovative samplers.

Roland really wants to do a hipster type MPC like machine but won't release it because of the history behind the MV. If they released that machine, they will be a laughing stock and people will grill them about features the MV had and the new flagship is lacking.

Oh snap. Somebody with the skills, go for it.
We need an Andy Mac v2.

Do you mean V2 as in 2.0..?? Might take them a whole year after introducing him to the team (Dan/Pete/Andy) to give him his first assignment.. :smoker:

Honestly, if I lived in the UK and didnt have my hands full of business, I'd love to apply for that.
At some point I was almost dreaming of doing something like that for Ableton.

Today something came to my mind and this guy explains exactly what it is:

At NAMM they still had to start production. They were too bussy making deals with distributors to anticipate how many units they should build for their first batch.

That's why they didn't have time for the average joe. That's why the whole thing (Akai booth) was closed to the public.

just my 2 cents :smoker:
