It's not hard really, just limiting compared to drum/keygroup program edit. You can do the following.

- Assign any sample to a clip pad.
- Edit the start and end points (not as easily as normal sample edit).
- Enable/disable warp.
- Edit BPM (this affects the base timing and can be used to alter the actual tempo even if it's not the true BPM of the sample).
- Pad playback (Toggle or One Shot).
- Set the pad quantize.
- Reverse the sample.
- Set coarse and fine tuning.
- Set the mute group.
- Toggle fade in.

So no layering, envelopes, filters, etc. I'm not sure if I would really use this as a workaround. The clip grid is a little weird too. It records long notes that can overlap other events that make grid editing somewhat difficult.

Is it possible to have the clip launch instantly? Or the is there a 1 bar minimum?

Yes, you can turn quantize off. But with clips, the sequencer starts automatically. So if you wanted to test some things out first but you have other things already in the sequence, it will start playing as soon as you hit a pad.

You can also add effects per pad. But you have to do it through the pad mixer instead of program edit.

Hey VinylStyleZ: THIS is totally my area of interest with this machine, as I intend to use it largely as a performance looper from audio inputs. And YOU seem as if you might know your way around this thing a little, yes?

Seems as if some of these steps might be streamlined:

- Can the Warp option (or WILL it?) be assigned as on by default? (Looks as if it IS, Cool.)

- Any idea why, on an empty new project, with my Master (and Sequence) tempo set to 90, when I go to Program Edit to load a sample I just recorded (at 90), the BPM is defaulting to 30...

- Exporting from the Looper only gives the immediate option of assigning said loop to Drum/Sample "Programs", but not to Clip Programs, which seems as if THAT'S where one would wanna PUT loops. What's missing is the ability to record and load LOOPING CLIPS (from Looper into Clips Program?), as smoothly as we can presently go from SAMPLER into a DRUM program, yes?)

- See: I need to know that these extra steps I have to currently preform will become unnecessary soon, as work flow is "clarified". Otherwise, I think I'm in the wrong relationship. (And I DEF and DO wanna use all the other sweet features here, jus sayin: I need this Clip/Program mode to work BETTER.

- Def need the ability SELECT a particular pad within the Program Editor WITHOUT Triggering it, if there's already a sample loaded in said pad, right?

- WHY can't I CHANGE to a different Program from within the Program Edit?

... And more questions, but I hope to find a good informed "audience" for them before typing much more, y'know? Suggestions?

Respect, D

Currently, warping is only available for audio tracks (default off) and clips (default on) on standalone. Drum program warping is only available in the software (default off).

I'm not sure. I think it tries to detect the sample's original BPM.

I agree that would make sense. It would be even cooler if you could record arm clip pads so you can directly have access to record and playback of multiple clips. I've seen live artists who could really use that.

I haven't found a way to do that. I'd like that feature also.

DanceHer wrote: - WHY can't I CHANGE to a different Program from within the Program Edit?

I'm not sure. The only way is from the Main screen. It might have been done so people accidentally change the program on their track when they think they are editing another program on another track. I've had that program with other MPC's in the past.
