Just thought I'd re-post this as I have discovered a second area where the MPC is dithering down 24 bit audio to 16 bit, despite 'preferences' being set to '24 bit' (both in 'Drag & Drop'' and 'General').
1) Bounce to Sample - when rendering a MIDI track to audio via MAIN > Bounce to Sample, the resulting file is always 16 bit (reported this many times, still not fixed).
2) Chopping - load a 24 bit file, chop and 'convert' either 'destructively' to new samples, or to patched phrase and the resulting files are 16 bit.
I only just noticed this behaviour in chop, I just checked the old MPC Software 1.9.6 and it's doing there as well, probably always has done. This is really poor, how hard can it be to ensure bit rate is maintained? Can you imagine Logic Pro randomly converting audio to 16 bit and it not being addressed as a matter of urgency?
