If the updated does not have have gross beats, it's a wash. Throw the machine away and wait 4 years. :smoker:

We should add a custom fortnite gameplay mode. That way you can play online and make beats in standalone mode.... We can use the mpc pads as the controller. Can plug a headset into the mic input. That would just make my music production career go to the next level. :hmmm: also we should make Tetra screen mode that way whenever I get bored I can solve puzzles. I'm sure the MPC is strong enough to handle those type of games. S*** f*** it let's just hack it and turn it into a regular computer that way I can have a standalone video game center. :Sigh: I ll think of more silly request today.

Sorry to let you down, but there is not enough ram to support fortnite. You have gone way overboard with this request. God of War. (Good), Pac Man (Fantastic), Super Mario (Excellent) but Fortnite no way. It would crash just from buying skins and those dances.

Just stick to making music and let us beat making gaming professional programmers. Handle this stuff.

What it really needs is, skype installed, on this machine. That way I can call Primo and Dre and demo them my latest beats and talk about how to bring hip hop back.

Hey, here's an idea - let's get Akai to have a referendum! It worked out really well here in the UK after all...

FYI it's looking like 2.3 will drop on Friday, maybe Saturday. There's a UK event, Music Live 2018, Rob dean from AKAI is presenting. An AKAI rep memed a 'surprise!' jpg. at speculation on Gearslutz about this being the announcement. :smoker:

Yes Akai engineers and communication workers are behaving in a new way this week.
They all look very self confident and funny in a strange way.
They make me think that after a year or more of struggling with audience for an unready device, they know that now they can relax because their device is finally what was supposed to be.
Am I right?
I really hope so

I'm glad they clarified (well, Dan) that this wouldn't be about Splice. That would have been seriously disappointing IMO. Also glad that it wasn't Abelton Link in that promo - that would have been seriously disappointing IMO too - but admittedly I'd never use either of those. I'm hoping this is mostly about stability, bug fixes and some new *REQUESTED* features. At this point things not requested or required fixing is silly.

I'm also of the opinion that this is one of the last updates we'll see before they sunset this platform. Hope I'm wrong about that though. So, I'm hoping this adds some useful features and capabilities.

I promise you that's not the case.

Two major updates a year is good for features. Perhaps one update a month for bugs. The key is not to become Microsoft, where they would update every week. After awhile the updates became an issue, because they would always break things. For us professional that, could be a nightmare.

For Akai Pro, it has to be tough. They have to deal with Microsoft, Android, and Apple MacOS and iOS updates. As soon as they get something stable. One of them or all three of them decides to update, without letting the Dev know anything. (Unless you're on their special list.) Then Boom nothing works.

Pro creators are mad and leave the Akai Pro platform, Akai Pro is mad and stop developing for certain OS's. Everyone is losing money and no one is happy.

MPC-Tutor wrote:Not an expert, but I think Akai/inMusic could port their own VST instruments into standalone, the existing internal effects were originally VST plugins (the desktop versions all have a .vst file name at least). So, a linux port of some of the Air instruments and fx, obvious choice would be Hybrid IMO.
That would be sweet. Unfortunately there's only a handful of folks wanting stand alone plugin support. Too many folks looking for basic upgrades to the legacy MPCs for my taste. I hope Akai has vision beyond what seems to be the typical user. Bringing the instrument into this millennia could upgrade its niche status.

Plugin Delay Compensation.

Anything else is the company dodging what is clearly the biggest pothole with this software, hoping to add bells and whistles that pull a rug over cracks in the floor.

I got the Ren what feels like 6 years ago thinking I'd finally be able to not have to end productions in Pro Tools... that I could just use ONE thing from start to mixing. At this point its ridiculous that I still need to final mix a BEAT, not a song, just a BEAT in Pro Tools... simply because there is no PDC available in a 2018 DAW.

Exactly!!! If there's no PDC, there's nothing to get excited about...

exactly, only with way better convertors, native 32bit, a choice for 48, 92 or 192Khz and 16 ins and 8 outs

(but no pads)

I totally get that you guys want this, but I can still be exited if PDC doesn't make it to the software. I can't remember which version of Ableton Live finally got PDC? but it took much longer than anyone wanted it to. So I guess I'm just used to to the idea that that type of rewrite is a lot of work for the developers. We're talking dynamically adjusting tracks separately for milliseconds of delay while keeping the playable track with as little of a buffer as possible, not easy to do. That's the big problem, not messing up buffer settings to where it's messing with playing the pads while other tracks are dynamically compensated. Over the years some DAWs have screwed that up... Live is much better now about that than it used to be for instance. It just better be a feature you can turn off if you need to at first.

Ableton Live has had basic PDC for a while; there were some quirks in automation with some plugins that took a while.
Difficult or not, all other companies have it now.
It's like, opening the platform for 3rd party plugins makes PDC necessary.
This is something that the users need. Because, do people use 3rd party plugins today? Hell yeah.
This, unlike, Splice feature, is something that many *need*.
I remember, in Akai videos, Andy popped up some 3rd party plugins but never used them…because the latency would've been heard.
