I can't remember which version of Ableton Live finally got PDC? but it took much longer than anyone wanted it to. So I guess I'm just used to to the idea that that type of rewrite is a lot of work for the developers. We're talking dynamically adjusting tracks separately for milliseconds of delay while keeping the playable track with as little of a buffer as possible, not easy to do. That's the big problem, not messing up buffer settings to where it's messing with playing the pads while other tracks are dynamically compensated. Over the years some DAWs have screwed that up... Live is much better now about that than it used to be for instance. It just better be a feature you can turn off if you need to at first.
Ableton Live has had basic PDC for a while; there were some quirks in automation with some plugins that took a while.
Difficult or not, all other companies have it now.
It's like, opening the platform for 3rd party plugins makes PDC necessary.
This is something that the users need. Because, do people use 3rd party plugins today? Hell yeah.
This, unlike, Splice feature, is something that many *need*.
I remember, in Akai videos, Andy popped up some 3rd party plugins but never used them…because the latency would've been heard.
