How to sample your VSTs [Video]

Whats good y'all!

Since I've been making a ton of key group programs lately I decided to make a beginners "How to sample your VST's" video.

Check it out.

Great vid!

I rely heavily on VSTs, so this feature provides a lot of value in addition to the 3 stand alone compatible plugins. I'll also be auto sampling drums from VSTs and will be looking out for vids in that regard.

I agree. This update is dope! I feel pretty limitless now.

The process I shared in the video allows me to load a gang of patches, kits and synths and still have memory left over.

I couldn't be happier.

yeah I am finding the MPC autosampler is still just a bit too weak in the editing department . loops are a real pain to get just right so I am sticking with my prior tools for multi sampling. only problem is that it seems the MPC autosampler is the only one that really seems to handle multiple velocity mapping correctly in the mpc format.

Looping is a bear with most every sampler, few are going to get it right on automatically.

Setting snap 0 and experiment is my advice. I don’t mind the manual work myself, but it does take some time to get right. I do wish the Live had a few more q-links though, and if I get back into serious editing might convince me to get the X.

I think you miss what I am saying... there are already multiple autosampling software tools that handle this process with far more detail. I mean this is cool for the average user who just wanted to take a few things on the go. and it makes the live a more powerful portable machine... but people creating instruments for the mpc in a professional manor are not gonna be satisfied with this.

I don't think it was ever intended to be a professional solution, but either way I don't know of many professionals out there making quality instruments for the MPC anyway, it's too niche a market and too limited a format in terms of what you can do with the XPM keygroup spec. I make them, but I'm more focussed on acoustic instruments, so autosampler doesn't really help in that respect. But it's a really tiny market in the general scheme of things, labor of love etc.

But if someone wants to just sample a few synth patches for their own use in standalone mode, it seems pretty much perfect.

niche markets are some of the best to cater to I had helped extensively to create the instruments in Akai's recent release. It would have been far easier if I could have used an inbuilt solution like this to record all the vintage synths and modular gear. Just wishful thinking I guess.

I do agree with what a few of you are saying about it not being as detailed as it could be but I'm definitely happy for what it is versus what it isn't.

That said, I do attribute some of my happiness to the fact that I come from the old school where we had voice stealing issues and zip disks and what have you.
