I don't think it was ever intended to be a professional solution, but either way I don't know of many professionals out there making quality instruments for the MPC anyway, it's too niche a market and too limited a format in terms of what you can do with the XPM keygroup spec. I make them, but I'm more focussed on acoustic instruments, so autosampler doesn't really help in that respect. But it's a really tiny market in the general scheme of things, labor of love etc.
But if someone wants to just sample a few synth patches for their own use in standalone mode, it seems pretty much perfect.
