Akai Force Forum: Everything relating to the Akai Force, the iconic 64 pad, clip-based standalone sampler/groovebox from Akai.

The problem is on the X the standalone and DAW integration are separate things? I think they should have fully integrated them. Like your DAW soundsets show up with hardware soundsets when in DAW mode. AFAIK it does not work standalone when in host mode? If that were the case I would probably fully embrace it. For me it is a waste because I cannot use sequencer and sounds when connected to DAW. TBH I have not used it much so I do not know. Correct me if I am wrong please. This Force looks more up my alley. Mostly use Ableton anyways. Ableton is not really a loop sequencer as you know. It is a full blown sequencer but I like it better than pattern sequencers. I mainly use Pro Tools to master since in that respect it offers more IMO. The Force looks like a better Push and the price is fair IMO. I just cannot get around the price of the X. I kick myself for buying it now. Especially that I have not even really been motivated to use it. If I must buy something right now I wonder if I should get Push or Maschine? I guess depends on my workflow. I will try both. For all I know the X is better. The Touch probably not so much. You get the bigger tilt screen, Q-links ETC.

@jeff lick

I'm on the Live, but the same applies. The software is full featured. There's nothing you can't do in it that you can do in stand alone. It's stand alone that loses some features compared to controller mode.

Unless I'm misunderstand you.

When it comes to pricey gear, I try to find a supplier that allows me to pay in installments. As a MPC Live user, I was definitely considering upgrading to a MPC X because I hated all of the shifting I had to do to get to adjustments and settings on the Live. I'm also an Ableton Live user so it looks like Akai Force will work better with my workflow as opposed to upgrading to a MPC X. But I'm assuming that Akai will deliver on everything they're promising with the Force.

Standalone means, no help from outside sources right? It can "stand alone" and do everything by itself correct?

1 Tip: make paragraphs not mountains of text, when posting. Hard to read.

2 Tip: Focus, you are all over the place. You are asking questions and answering your question.

Whatever works for you and keep your juices flowing. Use it.

Bezo wrote:And nah, I won't be buying the Force. I'm following more for how the Force relates to improvements to the Live & software.

I'm only a year into my Macbook Pro and it's doing the job. When things get more serious, I'm already eyeing the iMac Pro.

I was thinking the same.. Does he like the X, or not?? Is he going to keep his X or not..??

I’m lost..

I understand that the X is a huge investment for some but why not investigate before the purchase..?? :hmmm:

Or at least continue to dig into it since he invested in it. Not sure how long he's owned it. He did say he doesn't use it much. Maybe he's a strictly software kinda guy. Nothing wrong with that at all either. Maybe it's just not for you Jeff. Sh*t happens to the best of us.

there are 2 types of people who bought the X and who thinks its over priced.
1. A person who has the money , but is not justified in their investment because they plan on making 0% dollars to make the money they spent and then some.
2. A hobbyist who doesn't have the money to buy the X and complains that its over priced.

3. A person online who talks about it, but never actually bought it.

There is 4th category: the person who lives in a country where the X costs more than a kidney. $2600 over here bruh :vomit: oh shit I'm in category 2!.

I think the X looks amazing but I wanted portability. I still look at the 16 Q Link knobs in pictures and slightly regret my decison, but I won't when I'm using it Live.

One design caveat on the X to me is the placement of the touch screen, if it could be lowered for portability I think I would have bit. It just looks like something that would have problems moving in and out of road cases.

Sorry for that post. Was drinking but no excuse. I am 100% in software. That is why I cannot justify it. So, option 5? The issue is that the touch is not nearly as nice as live. I paid for a lot I do not use. No doubt AKAI will make a better tethered device.

Well you cold be those people, who think they're going to get 5000 grand for Sp1200 on ebay. I wish BEHRINGER would make a clone of the SP1200 for like $900 dollars. Regardless, the Akai Force will put more LIVE and X's on the used market. Because there were many people, who did not understand what they were buying.

I say buy another in about 2 months, then sync them together and have 16 audio tracks, 32 knob, 16 cv outs, 16 direct Outs.
