Icepulse wrote:Whaaa? You get like an 8 track limit w/ the Lite. That’s a demo as far as I’m concerned.

But you can save and export with it, unlike with most "demos".
If that floats your boat, you can always upgrade to a bigger version.
Many Akai controllers for example come with a Lite version.

There's also a real demo version with no limits, but it can't save or export, if that's better for you ;)

I'm intrigued about being able to use it in link mode as a better version of MPC software... (Using VST's,PDC etc.)

A lot of things.
Session View for jamming / sketchpad type workflow, ease of chopping (although I have some gripes re: chopping to Sampler instead of Simpler with Push 2), Drum Rack, ability to convert audio into drums/melody/chords, the ease of saving Clips for sound design, chord mode with Push 2, Push 2 step sequencing…and more.

Nice.. Cheers

For me most things I've wanted them to address have been taken care of.

- Side chaining
- Automation lanes (although I can't use 2.6 because my vst's wont work and all audio that is supposed to go to a sub buss gets routed to the main out) Hope it is fixed in 2.7
- The new mixer in 2.7

Still waiting for automation on the sub busses and master bus.

I'd love to have automation for returns, too.
Browser sorting would be grand.

Is there a video up still that shows the new mixer? Didn't get to take a look.

True... but the Push 2 is not a $200 controller, is it? It’s $800 base. For $800, I personally feel the Standard version should be in there. I mean, in the final estimation, it is just a controller, and the $800 price point merits unlimited tracks / scenes.

But that’s just one man’s opinion.

Yes, for way less than 800 USD you'll get Push 2 + Live Standard.

Let's see:

Price in Helsinki: 615 EUR = 677 USD.
Comes with Live Intro.
I'd say that's a decent price for a pretty dang versatile controller + 100% useful version of the software.

If you buy a version with Standard, that's probably around 700 USD.

Push 2 + full Suite version from Ableton site: 699 EUR = 770 USD.

Go to https://www.ableton.com/en/shop/push/ to see the prices.

I did. Push 2 w/ Standard is $1150 USD.

You should know I looked first!

This is what I’m saying. That’s over 50% more than you’re paying in Finland. Why? It’s rapacious. I’m not complaining; merely justifying my claim that the standard software should come w/ the entry Push bundle @ $800 USD.

OK, now that is a bit ****. No idea how the price difference can be that big.

There is a lot of accuracy in your post.
*I wrote too much*
I don't think us software guys are "mad", just some of us are disappointed. I'm fine, my two biggest gripes are fixed (sorta) - Ableton Export and internal synth. But as a tool its not strong enough to outpace software at ANYTHING, so to enjoy it, it has to be the workflow. For me, the workflow was solid, but some of the details need refinements or improvements that a new iteration would require. So I'm looking at updates less in terms of getting BACK to using my Live, and more to see what the plan is moving forward.

For me to buy a new MPC or a new Force is going to require something that either short-circuits the need for a computer without jumping through dumb number of hoops, or establishes a ridiculous volume of beat making content...so I'm hoping to see that.

I'm sort of here. I've always been hybrid. I started with live instruments, hard synths, romplers, drum machines & samplers, but recorded into Pro Tools, Logic, and now Studio One. But in the last 1.5 - 2 years, I've incorporated virtual instruments and now rely on them heavily.

I initially thought the Live, its software & a keyboard controller would suffice. But the software is too far behind other DAWs. Now I'm enjoying & refining the combo workflow of the MPC standalone & S1 and looking for improvements to the hardware in the name of efficiency & consistency.

For the next round of MPCs to get my attention, the workflow would have to be far superior to what it is now, with additional RAM. The MPC way is inefficient & inconsistent and should take notes from DAWs in this regard.

I'm glad this discussion came up because I'm finally interested in learning and using my Ableton Live 10 Suite so I can use it with my MPC X...

So after experimenting, what did you get to work?

Cockdiesel wrote:I’m going to need to work at this some transferring back and forth between the computer trying to figure this out.

right now they both recognize each other, when I press play midi starts incoming from the UFX both in and out. UFX has the host and cc lights on, and when I disconnect the usb the UFX restarts. So they are making some connection.

I can get nothing but inaudible jitter on the 8 analog tracks, in cc mode I don’t believe I can access the software tracks but I really need to mess with the settings because I just flipped it into cc mode and I am not sure what was going on the last time I used it.

I am not getting the extra options for out put and inputs. I can work at it some but I am not hopeful that I can use this like quickstrike has.

Is what he is using different than class complaint mode? Sorry guys I’m not as versed in the different daw and computer lingo. Just turn it on to mix in ableton. That may change some now tho.

Nothing. I posted in the hacks thread what I witnessed. They recognize each other, even midi. But it’s something I’m guessing will need a firm ware update at least for my sound card. Once plugged in I couldn’t even hit play on the live. No extra input or output option. BUT the midi lights lit up, host and cc lights up on the soundcard but nothing.

Is there a difference with CORE class compliant and regular class compliant. Before this I never heard that term before. Kaydigi mentioned it worked on his live, but no real details.

I tried yesterday and today some and even tried my iPad sound card same result.
