I'm amazed to hear that I managed to "single-handedly destroy" (MWOAH HAH HAH HAH) the DPSWerld EZboard, since I've been banned from there for over a year and thus unable to even READ it, never mind post there.
Perhaps it actually died because it was so dull without me
(Anyways, from what I remember, the I'd quite stand by my part in the two minor furores that took place:
- (i) one of the OS updates, I forget what it was, sthg like 1.33 or 1.40 or sthg, inctroduced a killer bug, where the MPC4000 wouldn't save changes to multis and programs (you'd go through the whole routing where you save it, the wee lady on the screen would ask you "File Exists! Are you sure you wanna over-write??" and you'd say "YES! DO IT!!!!" but although the progress bar would scroll along, if you loaded the files back up the next session, it wouldn't have saved your changes and you'd lost your work!
Obviously this was a hellishly egregious bug to appear in a flagship professional-market machine.
I reported the bug (perfectly civilly) through the correct channels, and was told more than once that "they couldn't reproduce it".
This denial continued until the released OS update that fixed it!!
BUT (tellingly) the was no ReadMe issued to explain what bugs the OS update fixed. ***COVER UP!!!***
SeanW on that board didn't like it when I pressed for some satisfaction on that point.
(ii) the FX board return level debacle - everyone complained for about 2 years that the FX "sucked" (were too quiet, and distorted).
I looked into the problem (clearly more deeply than Akai had ever done) and pointed out that the max FX return level was -12dB below the the main outputs.... reported this to Akai.
SeanW told us Akai were "investigating" it, but repeatedly refused to give any more info on that board....
....finally OS 1.60 came out which fixed the problem (-12dB and all), which I feel somewhat vindicates the gripes so many people had about the FX.
.....anyways, yes, I freely admit, sarcastis Northern Irish b@stard that I am, when a major corporation treats me, who's spent thousands of pounds on their products, like schit, then yes, I will be as asinine and gleefully rude and childish towards them as I can muster
If they'd been polite, helpful and apologetic in the first place, none of this would've happened. But instead they were obtuse, uncommunicative and downright mendacious........ and so I feel raise my handbag and swipe back twice as good as I get.
SORRY THERE
As for this board,
I dunno what some of these people get off COMPLAINING about "complaint" threads?!?
We're not "complaining", we're just reporting technical issues with the machine, and discussing them with out peers and fellow users,
so that we can get a broader handle on the problem and be more accurate and focussed when we speak to the official channels at Akai about it.
If this board isn't the place for doing that, then christ knows where is?!?
If reading suggestions that the product you spent your money on might not be 101% perfect makes you wet your pants in fear, then, hey, DON'T READ MY THREADS!
Just stick to reading the dumb-@ss threads about phat beets so you can pinch and plagarise other people's productions ideas to use in your own derivative tracks /yawns/
I must say threads like that BORE ME TO TEARS, but do I try and wreck the board by filling it up with TROLL THREADS about how I don't like your chit-chat about phat-beets?!? NO! I just don't read them and let you get on with it in peace.
You would do well to do the same.
