I'm glad 2.7 is no longer a mystery and out of the way. The development of 2.8 is now the main focus and I'm hoping it will be one to address feature requests such as:

[*] Disk Streaming
[*] Multitimbral MIDI
[*] Plugin Delay Compensation
[*] Hype Synth

So hard to say where they'll go with this platform next. I think a new hardware version is more plausible at this point, before any major software changes happen. I'm hoping they get back to showing a focus on the MPC and not integration with 3rd party software though, and that would mean tending to the features in this thread.

-Disk Streaming
-Upgraded Time Stretching & Pitch Shifting Algo
-Velocity per pad settings
-Combine programs from the hardware
-Global Adjustments Per Layer
-More Global Editing Within Programs (Discard for example)

-Plugin Delay Comp would be cool, but I've given up on the software at this point. Without multi-output plugin support, stereo panning, VCA tracks (better mixer overall) and a few other things, PDC means nothing to me.

I just want the sampler to do more really. More modulation, thats all it needs is a mod matrix, another assignable envelope (preferable loop able), and a free running LFO that goes bipolar. A better tempo detection and time stretch would be cool. Used to be all about needing PDC but I barely even use the computer anymore after getting the Live.

I suppose if it did disk streaming Id probably just track everything directly in the MPC now too. Change it so its 16 mono OR 8 stereo tracks and Id be set right there and wouldn't need the computer at all except to upload mixes online.

Why not just sending and getting tracks to/from a multitrack via usb?
Is it impossible to make it?

You're not alone. I haven't tried to use the software in a meaningful way since 2.0.

if I'm Akai, right now I'm thinking how much of a PITA having two operational modes is causing (standalone vs controller). It's like having to support two products in one platform. I was one of the people early on saying that having two modes in one platform was going to be a challenge, and they should keep the controller (MPC Touch) separate from the standalones (Live and X). I was also yelling that Akai has no business trying to create a DAW - they're just too far behind, and they don't seem to have the resources to pull it off. IMO, the Live and X should be 100% standalone, and the Touch should be for controlling the software. Actually if it were up to me, the software would never exist. LOL

Anyway, I'm just rambling. Would love to see the things on these lists in this thread.

My only requests at this point are the same that they've been the last several point updates:

  • Hype Synth in standalone
  • Disk Streaming
  • Same GUI/UX as Force (including song building mode)

If I get those three things, the MPC Live will be the perfect piece of hardware for my needs and I'l likely never ask for any other updates (aside from lingering bug fixes)...

Disk Streaming & Multitimbral MIDI so I don't have to hear the same complaint again. Also the ability to add/remove features, so people stop complaining about features being added that may not benefit them.

I'm so tired of the complaints.

With regards to what I ACTUALLY would want, improvements to editing workflow with the pianoroll, and integration with something similar to Captain beats to help build melodies more dynamically and with more flexibility than what's currently provided in Performance Mode.

Right now...My Only Request is A Spectrum Analyzer. Should be real easy to implement that.

Other than that....The X/Live are PERFECT

Once the Software could not transfer MPC 4000 files over, without having to rebuild the entire track. The software was a no go. I never needed it for tracking, just transferring old project files.

With the Ableton integration, they wrote a driver so it can control Ableton and run standalone all together. Why they didn't do that before.

Exactly, it should've been strictly a utility program, for transferring old Akai Projects. It's going to take at least 5 years to catch up. So it's better if they just purchase Ableton or FL Studios and call it a day. If they're for sale. Or here's an idea, port the software over from the DPS 24 and Ak Sys.
