I really wish Akai would leave the DAW world alone.
Can't leave the DAW alone, the games needs me.
Inmusic buys Ableton, it's really that easy.![]()

Roland just came out with new MCs, Korg is possibly working on some new Electribe, Elektron still sells good and so on.
Akai could win them all if they take care on current Mpc as standalone.
People buying standalones are an expanding market, as I can see from the trend.
Mpc Live price drops to compete with Mc707, you can see they almost have same price now.
Maybe Force has been more or less a failure, and when it came out I just asked myself, why they hell they don't focus on Mpc? It will take out resources from that.
And I was right.
I just understand that Akai is moving in a mysterious way.

Well l be damn! So it would be just an electronic instrument. MPC-Tutor wrote:
but people are starting to get a bit unrealistic in the criticism imo, if you need powerful daw features, get a laptop and daw.
Danoc wrote:Is Akai thinking the same thing? So you're saying a new MPC shouldn't have powerful DAW like features going into 2020?
Well l be damn! So it would be just an electronic instrument.
If Akai feels like this a new MPC would **** and taking people's money. Not mines.

This is what would've made the MPC a future proof, center piece for home, projects, and working studios. My thoughts are, create a machine that I will build a studio around.
1.Full Fledged Sampler
2. Incredible Sequencer/Midi Interface
3. A powerful and flexible mixer
Speaking strictly for myself, this version of the MPC, did not click any of those boxes. This does not mean, I can't create using the MPC LIVE/X, it just means that the machine will not be my centerpiece.

My list isn't the same as yours, but the conclusion is identical, its why I struggle with the cost of a MPC X, it just can't be the centerpiece of my studio as things currently stand. I take that back - it could because of other purchases I've made, but in general it just needs too many other things that I don't *expect* to get.
Quietly kept though I have to give Akai kudos. Despite complaints by many here, their constant work on the platform and slew of improvements have converted me from "not getting a MPC again" to "with the right feature set, I'd love to get an upgraded MPC X".
