That would be the right way.
To have a standalone platform where you can buy synths and effects from 3rd party developers.
That would be a huge step forward.
How is Xpand by the way?
Never thought about it.

Compared to modern synths like Serum, Spire, Dune 3, etc - Xpand is laughably anemic and dated. But for a rompler, it does have some usable content inside. That said, Hype is far more advanced compared to Xpand, which is strange that they would introduce Xpand before they did Hype since Hype is already on the Force (and yes, I know about the content issue, but that can be got around).

Yeah at the end I rely on my Mc101 for synths, I just use some Bass lines with Bass synth.
It would be more exciting for me if they sell effects from 3rd parties, maybe some granular effect or stutter on Mpc would be great.

The bizarre thing is that InMusic owns Air Music, so it's not like they don't have a team of devs to draw from to make that happen. And I'd love to see some granular effects on the MPC in standalone - hell yes!

Unless all of Air Music's devs have been pulled to work on firmware and the MPC desktop utility? Beats me - I have no idea what Air Music is up to these days. Not even sure when was the last time they released a VST plugin that was relevant. Can't remember them ever making a "top" list in any music review site publication. This isn't a knock against Air; I'm just wondering what it is they do.

I used to use Air fx bundle on protools, I think it's a very good one, nothing fancy or complicated, but detailed and very useable.
So I was very happy when they put it on Mpc. I have nothing to complain about it, i don't know any groovebox with pro quality effects like Mpc- maybe Roland ones, but they are Boss legacy so it's normal.
I just would like to have something more granular, like redpanda particle or something like that.
I guess Air has the skill to do it.
Or also a granular synth like Tasty Chips, where I could put my own samples.

I've actually come around to Air FX on the MPC standalone. At first I was a bit critical, because for outsiders that don't use Pro Tools like me, we haven't seen much from Air that impresses that much, IMHO.

But after spending the last year with my MPC Live, I have come to realize that the standalone effects are literally second to none compared to other hardware groove boxes out there. Seriously, they're just great. I take back everything I said about them that was scathing.

I really hope we do see something granular at some point. If anyone could pull it off, it's them. Just don't know how realistic it is since we can't even get them to finish Hype or Xpand or Drum Synth for the MPC's at this point.

It seems very obvious to me with the new release of 2.8 coming in a couple of days, that Akai is very serious about MPC line. Looking forward to what future updates will be moving forward.

welp the first batch of plugins was pretty much trash

hope the new batch have some nice tonal quality; the electric looked good and sounded ok but was a pretty boring sound pallet.

the other two sounded really bland to my ear; hopefully the new batch are more interesting with better presets and just a more interesting tonal quality.

I also hope we have the option to uninstall content cos the factory sounds and the current 3 plugins are pretty shit id rather i could remove them and free up that space.

Akai need to get with some proper vst instruments providers; rather than rely on they own in house devs far as vsts

I also triple second that. The effects are pretty nice in the mpc live and a big reason why i sold my 1000 and got the live.

(on the mpc1000 you can only add two effect inserts and they were all pretty bad except for a few like the bit grunger.. )

Been saying that! A scaled down Omnisphere, Serum, Roland SRX Series (DOPE)!, some compamies like that. Add a midi keyboard and go bananas!

yeah i would like to get some roland srx sounds and or some triton sounds Akai needs to approach them and get them and try license they vst's to use in mpc cos those will have a low memory foot print.
