Can I use a 512gb SD CARD (SDXC) in the MPC LIVE?

I want to buy an SD card to use for multiple things and not just my samples/mpc stuff but read in a few places a bigger SDXC card might not work in the mpc live...true?

I have an Integral 512GB micro SD in a generic SD adapter and this is working fine.

read / write times SD card vs USB flash drive – noticeable difference

I've been using a large SD card b/c its sleek but my friend brought to my attention that USB drives have faster read/write times. Anyone care to comment ??

with the 2GB limit, I only think it matters in the context of switching between projects.

I guess that as these are simply storage for now, read/write speeds aren't critical. (Compared to say the Tascam DP series multitrackers, where simultaneous reading and writing means that the machines are extremely picky about what cards will work properly).

Perhaps this will change as/when disc streaming comes along.

Isn't a 512GB sd card more expensive and much much slower than an average ssd?
Also, sd cards are unreliable - I am not sure if storing 512gb of data you can lose any time on an sd card is a good idea...

Yes, ATM I think the speed differences are going to be negligible in day to day use, plus MPC One only has USB 2.0, so SD might even be faster? I've just bought a WD Green SSD on the cheap so I might write a little article testing load and save times for the three disk options.

BTW, I seem to remember reading that the internal SATA port is actually a USB port with a SATA adapter, not sure if anyone can confirm that?

Not ever had reliability issues with SD cards, normally stick with SanDisk but bought the 512 Integral one as it was cheap-ish with good reviews and I wanted to use it as permanent storage inside a Macbook (via one of those flush microSD card converters).

Had more more issues with USB drives over the years. I did have one of those low profile USB 3.0 flash drives in the back of my Live but it failed after a few months.

You can get UHS-II U3 Class10 SD Cards that do 300 Mbps. USB 3 sticks can certainly get faster, but their real-world performance on the MPC Live may not be that much faster. But the 2G. RAM on all of the MPC’s has nothing to do with it - it’s how fast your samples load into said RAM, how responsive and fast your browser behaves when navigating Expansions and samples stored on the SD Card or USB drive, and - presumably if it ever appears - how disc streaming will perform.
