Ableton Live is the business... though I think a number of folks have moved on from it. I still load it up from time to time, but I still hate how warp markers work since what Live 6 or 7?

Tried that, mine does not work.

Are you sure you tried it instead of the mute? I only ask as I misread it first and tried it as well as mute, which does nothing.

But if I don't mute the track, then set the monitor to 'in', the already recorded notes don't play and I can jam over the top of the rest of the sequence without issue.

I dont think Solrac means that it'll make the Track Mute Function work like previous versions, but its a Ok workaround if you're on the Main Screen. Changing the Audio Input from "Auto" to "In" WILL mute the Audio on that track coming from the Sequencer, So you can "Jam" out while the Audio is Muted on that Track.

So If you wanna Mute a Track, but you wanna Try out some ideas on that track while the Beat is Playin, You Could Hit that "Auto/In" instead of "Mute".

That works, but if you're in track mute and you mute the track there and then go back to Main. You have to press in and then the mute tab, in order to play the sounds on the pad. They need to go back and revert that setting, it's just easier.

You're saying some of the same things l said. Its funny how People got angry with me saying it. Fact Akai is playing around l have no time for that. Let them keep playing around.

Man their pattern of bugs is evident not to wait for 3.0.

I would go the DAW way. I know a few people that are about to ditch their MPCs.

One minute 2.8 is great the minute the same person saying its great is rolling back.

I ditched mine. You wanna make music not have to worry and get a headache every upgrade. Its ridiculous.

Yeah MPC is a decent & fun drum machine/groovebox whatever you call it but it doesnt seem like the nukai team has any idea or where they want the mpc to end up in regards to being a professional machine. I want a professional standalone piece of equipment and they are trying to sell me a splice subscription, lol.
Like iron out all these bugs before you get all gimmicky. Nukai paid someone to have a dancing duck on the sidechain graphic... Pay someone to fix the f'in' bugs before you make graphics!!!
For the record I think most of the graphics need overhauled... but I will forgive the duck, I kinda like the duck

Gonna see What 3.0 holds but probably going ableton soon. Might keep live as a controller though.[/quote]

Thank you, I had it muted prior to changing. Hope they fix this soon!

Yes, I agree with a lot of what you have to say about the live/x & akai as a brand.
I bought live with wide eyes thinking it would evolve into what I wanted: a standalone mini daw... which it *kind of* is. I'm keeping it for a while, at least, but the cons are starting to outweigh the pros.

-its buggy at 2.8... How is this thing gonna handle 'arranger mode'?
-if I'm gonna need a daw to help/finish projects, why not just start them there... in a good daw! Coulda just bought a Touch! (Anyone smell a Touch>liveii thread brewing? I kid, I kid)!

Live/ii/X/one are still very dope machines, again I cant think of another standalone with this many features/abilities... But I'm realizing that may be the problem.

I had my live out the gate from 2017, l was hyped thinking it would evolve also. That didn't haopen. Talking about Splice didn't interst me, l don't need splice nor am l falling into the subscribers mode. Out the gate they should of had a standalone DAW. I don't feel like going into details. But l can do more in my DAW than the MPC. I am getting more inspired rockin my DAW. The MPC was just sitting there. So why keep it? Plus l don't lije the direction Akai is going. Right now 2.8 is glitchy and l said something about that.

I don't know how it will handle arranger mode.
That's what lm saying, start in the DAW, finish in the DAW.

Off topic:
But how are you going to make beats outside at the park, while sipping tea, eating carrot cake, and pondering all the money you're going to make. You'll be back and the speaker is going pull you in.

I do wonder, what is going on due to the COVID 19. I'm finding more and more obvious bugs everyday.

The prices for used Akai gear is getting insane... somebody must be getting some crazy COVID 19 drug money or something to afford all this ish.

Yeah I agree.
But if they fix the 2.8 issues I am pleased.
Someone wants a standalone beast, some an hybrid with computer, some wants to download from Splice and make beats, some wants synths to make ambient, some want to autosample, some a high class controller and so on.
Many different kind of customers, many different workflows and requests.
So as you said you end up satisfying no one.
But at least Akai should make a flawless Mpc after 3 years and half of development, isn't it?
3 years and half.

Part of it, I assume, is the possibility of new gear not being produced for a while, & some, unfortunately, never again. Hopefully that isnt the case, but the pandemic is surely throwing a wrench in cogs around the world. We'll see which companies can weather this storm... Only time will tell.

All of this. And...

In business in general, some people are good for certain periods of time. But to get to the next level, you need next level minds - and that’s what I think Akai is lacking right now. And it’s going to take product managers that think beyond Splice Integration being a game-changing and impressive function. This isn’t a “I could do better” statement - but from my years in business, it’s obvious that this current group is about tapped out (or close to it). They need cash and new talent to take it to the next level. They need some JJ type of talent. Until then, it’s probably going to languish in and around it’s current state until someone comes along and buys the brand from Numark.

Thing is, I don’t mind where the MPC is at 2.7 (2.8 is a mess IMO). I still think the foundation needs work. But 2.7 isn’t bad. But I’m not sure how much confidence I have that this group can actually take this thing to the next level. If I’m honest with myself, that’s the question I’m asking.

Im not asking the qyestions about Akai l already know. At least the hardware shouldn't have all those bugs. 2017 to 2020 and they still can't get it right :WTF:

Whoever the team is seems they are just fumbling around. The pattern l see is bad. I don't trust it cause of the terrible pattern. Akai turned me off for real. I have a better mobile setup. No bugs or none of that crap.

When you pay your hard earned money you shouldn't spend time teching, you should be making music. You're making a track and it freezes... ?ess up the whole track and now its lost. :Sigh:
