Do you honestly think the way Akai handled the whole Touch / DisplayLink / macOS High Siera problem was OK? I was one of the people trying to help people by uploading earlier MPC versions as Akai didn't provide access to them.

There is a lot to be said about Akai, cause they dropped more balls than Tiki Barber did in his whole career.

But in the right hands and minds the X/ Live and One are very capable machines. When the Ren and Studio came out people wanted a standalone machine. Akai made a standalone MPC line. People wanted better FX. Akai implemented AIR FX. People wanted this, and people want that. People want an MPC and Daw in a one stop box. Akai is trying hard to do all that. And people still aren’t happy. And of course these MPC’s are far from perfect. It’s nearly impossible trying to cover so much ground and be perfect at it. But people don’t seem to understand that if you have such high demands and expect it to be perfect that it’s very hard to be satisfied.

I really like the MPC but it's like akai keeps trying to give a little bit of everything to everyone and they keep flopping because they are all over the place.
If youre gonna make it an all-in-one mini-DAW, then do it right. Don't put in some half-assed effects (I do like the majority). Dont give us some corny splice link sales trick. Don't release a bugged out update to the public without testing it thoroughly. All these things add up and make paying customers remember who they are as a company...
Give them a no nonsense MPC! (credit to Charles & Danoc)
Damn right I'm not satisfied:
I got a $1200 awesome sampler with a mediocre sequencer, some wampy synths, some corny splice link, firmware with bugs out the a$$ and akai has the nerve to be like: try one with a SPKR dude!

Because something isn’t perfect doesn’t mean you can’t be happy with it. Like you said, Akai has a reputation. So when you drop the $1200 you know chances are that your MPC maybe never be that perfect machine you’ve always dreamed off it would be. There are enough people around here who definitely have things they would like to see improved or implemented, but still are overall satisfied with the machine their having. Indeed, credit to CR and Danoc who loved to see a no nonsense MPC. The Live didn’t ‘satisfy’ them. But they sold their Live and moved on to another piece of gear and are satisfied with that.

I'm not looking for perfect, I want for consistency. For the MPC ONE, I want is the basics abilities.

1. Plug in a USB cable to a computer and drag sound to the a USB Key/SD Card while in stand alone.
2. Export MIDI
3. Use the Ethernet to network the unit.

It's important to have basic functions that I use everyday, in a real world studio environment. The worst thing they can do, is overload it with features. I don't want to sit around and program, I want to make music and anything that gets in the way of that, I let go.

That's why I stay away from euro rack gear. I don't want to spend my time patching, pressing buttons, and turning knobs. I want to sit down, turn the machine on, make music, repeat.

I won't even go into all of the buggy software issues. But, tell me why they can't do a simple thing like make all of the MPC software revisions downloadable? Or, why they can't spec the computer / OS requirements on their web site? Sorry man, those things are inexcusable.

That’s the way Akai rolls for nearly 20 years now. And again, I am not claiming everything is perfect about Akai and the recent MPC line. I’ll be one of the last people who will claim that. When I bought the Live I was well aware of the risks that came with buying a new Akai product. I decided to either find a way around all the bugs and the wanted yet to be implemented features or just part with it. I did the last after a year and now I am happier than ever with the MPC2500 and Logic. They do everything I hoped the Live would do but even better.

You can get as mad as you want about Akai, but it won’t change the way they’ll operate as long people stay as thirsty as **** for new updates of any sort. And to be the devil’s advocate; I don’t know if you were around in 2006/ 2007 when they left everybody with faulty pad sensors and an unfinished OS they rarely updated. But since then their support has definitely improved by getting actively in contact with their (potential) costumers on different forums letting them having control over the direction of the future of the MPC. But there are too many wishes to be granted, from customers as well from sales directors, and of course Akai is Akai and executes it poorly and it’s no surprise that the MPC ended up where it is today.

People are looking at Akai and their future updates with all the ‘maybe they’ll change this or add that’ hopes. And if that is your mindset you will be disappointed and unsatisfied till the last MPC is sold. So instead look at what YOU can do about it. Either find your way around all the shit and accept it will never be perfect, or just sell the damn MPC and look for something else. But since a lot of people don’t do that and keep waiting and stay thirsty for that next disappointing update, a lot of Akai users will never be satisfied.

I primarily work in a Plogue Bidule. I purchased the MPC Touch and software at the beginning of 2018 because (at the time) it was the only DAW I could find that I could run as a plugin within Bidule. The Touch was the cheapest way to get the software at the time (they didn't sell it separately) and I liked having a control surface, though I don't use the pads. However, I soon discovered that the MPC software lacked some things I needed: More than 16 MIDI channels out (a plugin limitation), and a variable tempo control track. I got around the MIDI channel problem by using Apple IACs in Bidule plugins within MPC channels 17 to 32. In Bidule, I built a variable tempo generator controlled by a MIDI cc on an MPC track with the MPC slaved to the Tempo generator. So, as you can see, I HAVE done a lot about it.

The things I expect the Akai hardware and software to do aren't esoteric. Tempo tracks are very common, as well as a bunch of other basic things I won't go into. So, you can criticize me all you want, but Akai needs to get its act together. As for selling it, I have too much time invested in this music, and last time I checked, their MIDI export didn't work properly. Also, I couldn't with a clear conscience sell a Touch to anyone.

This is the juice. Perhaps @mpc-tutor should make a seperate subforum, for the people who only complain. Getting a nice list of 0-replies topics..
