It has 2 x XLR-1/4" combo jacks (with 48 volt phantom power switch on the top below the gain knobs), 2 x 1/4" jacks, and 1 x stereo RCA (phono/line).

Do not connect line-level audio sources to RCA. They're only intended for phono input.

2 - XLR/1/4 Combo Jack
2 -1/4 for Line Input
2 - RCA for Phono (Only)

No worries - glad to have helped! But Charlie is wrong as usual. You can connect line-level to the RCA jacks just fine. There's a switch on the back that allows you to turn line level on instead of a phono input.

Charlie: do you even own a current MPC these days?? :WTF:

 OMG l said the exact thing. If Akai would of put HDMI on the new MPC l would of bought into just for that. I even put up the pic of the MV8800 to show the rear. And be mouse compliant!

I had plans but unfortunately Akai didn't come through so l got off that ship. My new MPC is my PC  l have HDMI now  :smoker:

This, I would upgrade in a heartbeat. I have a mv8800 and tbh I kinda hoped akai would take some features from that 14 year old machine.

No problem, if you have issues pick up the MPC BIBLE and read the manual.

8.Phono/Line Switch: Set this switch to the appropriate position, depending on which Input 3/4 connectors you want to use. If you are using the 1/4” (6.35 mm) inputs, set this switch to Line. If you are using the RCA inputs, set this switch to Phono to provide the additional amplification needed for phono-level signals.

How many inputs and outputs are on the MPC X?

The MPC X features 8 balanced TRS outputs and 4 combo inputs. Inputs 1 and 2 will support mic and line levels (+48v phantom power available) and inputs 3/4 will support phono (RCA) and line level (1/4" TRS) inputs. Important: The RCA inputs are intended only for phono-level audio. Please be sure not to connect line-level audio sources to this input.

That said, gold paint is LAME. I want 100% real gold leaf. 24 karat. Go big or go home. :D

If you plug something into the Phono input and leave the switch set to Line, the phono level amp stays off and you can use the RCA inputs as line-level.

Yes?
