Hi - I have the need to change tempos on the fly - especially in live use.
Can I assume tempo to one of the Q-link rotating pots?
I do not want to menu dive to do this.

After reading the manual (that's a free tip) I would say it isn't possible. You could always start at page 277 of the manual to see for yourself. :-D

But to change tempo all you have to do is go to main and select tempo and turn a knob or whatever, I would assume that even in a live situation this at least gets you to where you want to go without any menu diving.

I have checked the manual and I cannot find where tempo can bee assigned to a Q-link. I also looked at 277 etc. So, I do not know where this instruction is. Anyone know that has one?

Q-Link row four, top Q-Link is already assigned to tempo.
If this is what mean.

I did check the manual - it was difficult to find and in fact I have not found it yet. That is why I wrote. I was in the middle of making a decision to purchase. I tried the find function in the pdf. If you found it in the manual, please tell me where you found it. I am curious. I even looked a the pages referenced in an earlier post.

I would hope this forum can be used by people who tried to find things in the manual and could not. I would think AKAI would like that because it can lead to more sales and a larger community. As it is, because I did not receive a response quickly on this forum, I still have not purchased the unit and I was ready to when I first inquired here.

The forum is not affiliated with or supported by Akai. Unfortunately a lot of folks come here looking for tech support, sales questions, etc... and while some of us may have experience, we don't always know. There's maybe ten or twenty regulars on here... and none of us have anything to do with Akai as far as I am aware.

Frequently the "manual" response is more about doing the best to educate yourself, and less about folks holding back knowledge. We don't have all these devices, and while we may be able to guess, that's not going to help you make an informed decision.

Thank you. I did try my best to educate myself and without having the unit, I asked here. And I received an answer above that was very specific. So, as far as I am concerned, this forum worked for me. I do not think anyone was holding back knowledge. It turns out the manual is quite complicated. And the MPC Live 2 is actually quite complicated for a first time user as well.

But I did want a unit where I could change tempo playing live without menu diving. And fortunately, that appears to be the case with the Q-Link.

And by the way, with COVID, it is a lot more difficult for myself and probably others to just check one out in person and try it that way.

So, thank you and everyone else.

I actually learned something here. Never ever am I on row 4 of the qlinks when I'm on the main screen. Thanks for sharing that.

I have X, this was the default, tempo on q-link. A friend has a Live, this was the default on there also. I figured it’s the same on One.

It's the same on the MPC ONE, but it's faster to tap tempo and turn the knob.
