Akai just sent out the email a few days ago not to update. Looks like you might get lucky though.
Here, I thought the network MIDI app broke at Big Sur Beta 9. At least the GUI started showing up blank. The actual drivers still work, my Live can mount to the desktop, all the USB stuff still passes through (VirtualBox still sees my AMT8 plugged in to the MPC and I can edit in Sound Diver from there). So that's good.

New Logic update came out with Big Sur today, noticed the Akai Network MIDI and DAW ports ARE still installed even though the GUI is empty in the app itself. MPC of course still grabs an IP address over ethernet as it should. Decided to try it and it WORKS!. Logic started/stopped and synced the MPC the whole time. So apparently everything is good to go for the most part! I should've just tried it weeks ago when it first went blank cause it was working up until then, this might just be a graphics/Metal issue!

I have no desire to open the MPC Software ever again so you're on your own there, that's a nightmare even when it "works".

Regarding Logic... the list of enhancements, fixes and improvements from version 10.5 to10.6 is SERIOUS. Impressive what they’re able to address in such a short period of time - basically less than one year.

Yeah they are keeping Logic up with the times which is great, bad part is the new update needs at least Catalina to run and I'm still on Mojave

I didn't notice that until I downloaded it but I was kinda shocked at that even for Apple. Mojave must be a bad omen around there or something. Maybe it reminds them of all those Mac Pro users still complaining about getting left behind. They seem to want to just level it off at Catalina and start fresh heh. I didn't check the Final Cut update, that might piss a lot of movie houses off. The PPC to Intel switch dragged on for awhile so maybe they want this one over and done with quicker and the 'legacy' users out of their hair.

I was having a blast earlier though. Had Logic syncing the MPC and was playing Absynth in Logic from the MPC over ethernet. Im so glad its working (for now) cause we know Akai will take their sweet time doing an 'official' updated version.

I have the new ARM mini OS 11.0. My MPC ONE won’t go to controller mode. Do you guys think the new firmware is having issues with the newest OS?

I had no Idea about the compatibility problems with the update and big sir. Are you saying it’s a matter of time before they will work together, or should I find a way to load an earlier version? I have noticed that the software MPC is unremarkably designed. This is disappointing.

People should not jump to upgrade to the latest operating system version if their DAW setup is working fine for them.

Akai hasn't even mentioned anything about the ARM version yet. Id bet you're going to be waiting a very long time for a native version of it. As it is, its probably going to take them until they decide to release 3.0 to bring everything up to spec on the Intel side of things at the rate they move. I honestly don't think they really know what they're doing when it comes to development (the MPC Software on the Mac doesn't even follow Apple's basic GUI standards let alone what's inside it). It should run under Rosetta 2 but that all depends on how Akai wrote their drivers and whatnot whether it works. Controller mode connecting to the computer all depends on the driver, not the MPC's firmware. Im still in complete shock that everything actually does work on Big Sur on Intel. The only thing I dont get is the interface for the Network MIDI app, but it still works and connects my MPC to Logic over ethernet so its good.

Akai needs to fix the controller drivers for its Mpcs for the Mac m1 and all new upcoming arm macs.

Akai have released two software updates that no one cares about, but are not supplying resources to fixing drivers for new macs which will affect all future sales.

Clearly Akai don’t care about their customer base, support states they are working on it. But it’s clearly not it a high priority. Don’t buy any AKAI products moving forward.

Supports advice to not update you’re Mac, is ridiculous advise, when you buy a new Mac, you have no choice. I recommend people should not buy AKAI products as they are not supported anymore.

Agreed, and I'm willing to bet that they'll get there eventually.

Which releases are those? 2.9.0 and 2.9.1?

How do you know they are not having their team work on updating M1 drivers or that it will affect all future sales?

Even if they have one person on it an hour a week, it's not a lie that they'd have somebody working on it.

I agree that it is unlikely a high priority, since the bulk of their customer base is on an x86 platform, which is likely where they have the bulk of their high priority issues.

I'd agree that you shouldn't buy AKAI products if you're going to run on the M1 platform, until Akai ports their drivers over. It's also quite possible that the drivers are third party, and Akai is waiting on a third party partner to do this work.

I get it, it sucks... but I don't think any of us know for certain what the hold up is.

You have no choice if you choose to move to the M1 platform.

Not really. Its a brand new architecture that came out 2 months ago. If moving all your shit over to ARM is so easy, go for it, lets see you do it and have everything working perfectly across the millions of combinations of hardware a user might throw at you. There is no law that states every company NEEDS to be on the latest and greatest bleeding edge whatever on day 1. They do it as they see fit, like it or not. Nowhere do they list compatibility for the M1 Mac, and nowhere are they required to update everything to it either. On top of that you have no clue what their dev environment looks like, or where they are along the way with porting everything over. They don't have to tell you anything, that doesn't mean you need to run around like chicken little claiming the sky is falling just because Mr Big Company won't let you in on their internal schedules.

Good thing you weren't around when OS X came out or the new Intel machines, or when OS8 wiped the floor with System 7, or the old 603/604 CPU was replaced by the G3, or the G3 was replaced by the G4 that had the Altivec engine in it, or when the NuBus Macs were discontinued, etc..
