I sometimes edit a samples start and end times in program edit, then flatten the pad to create a new sample. I do this to isolate a hit from a loop. I know this can/should be done in sample edit mode, but in the past I've found the flatten pad method quicker.. yesterday I went to do this and the resulting flattened pad sounded brighter and slightly distorted from the original. Even though I had no FX assigned to the pad. Shouldn't the flattened pad always sound exactly like the original, as long as there are no FX on it? What could be coloring the sample, and why do I only hear it AFTER I flatten the pad?
