Yess!! Yess!! This was me back when I had my 2500.. Had nice crispy clear sounding samples on my PC, loaded them to my 2500 and was like wtf happened to my samples..?? :Sigh: :WTF:

That 'crisp' sound is the sound of real 0 attack time. All MPCs before MPC 2 software put a small slow attack to avoid clicks when chopping. The result is finely trimmed samples on PC are soft sounding on old MPCs. Its infuriating. You could put 200 samples of silence in front to make it sound the same on MPC but you can't put that silence in front on the MPC itself. JJOS does the attack right tho.

Yup, this guy gets it... Sadly a lot of these newer MPC owners (on here especially) were born IN the 90's (and probably 00's), and have no idea what the OG MPCs are like, so they pit the current AKAI offerings against DAWs, and that's what you see most of these feature requests resembling...

honestly, I would be shocked if even half use their MPC in standalone mode.

It's also laughable that (the same people) expected that AKAI would somehow release some sort of jaw-dropping update for the XL
spoken like a true elitist; brings a tear to my eye, I thought this mindset dissapered into cyber space, im proud to see the production snobbery is still present an correct, lol
Full fledged snop haha.. man I brought out my 3000 and 2000 classic and was so gitty.. I was in tears remember all the beat I made and sold and got pennies in return hahha .. but crafting back then was such an art it was fun now we have to many commands that tutor had to make a booke about it .. I remember when he just cretic beats not make a manual like a college course.. let's just keep the mpc simple not extra shift screens that I forget .. but it's okay because I'm old school..

Another side note if that is the new MPC then they will sell 1k tops if that for 2k of ram .. I just made 8 beats in controller mod same sequence for fun.. still going if I was in stand alot Maybe 40% maybe ....

Ur placement gives u $20 while thr label makes millions off of your beat stop giving big entity your gift..

DO NOT click on my video just look at my MPC X photoshop idea.
My colorway would work best with those knobs

Question..... Now that the LINK port is there can you sync the MPC Key 61 and the MPC XL together to start/stop/clock/song position matching? Good job InMusic! Now just add the Scaler 2 and Serato Studio/Sample sampler features and I will purchase both and sell my X. 8)

Image u own the X already and u buy this for a network port and 2gb of ram how many are purchasing.. ummm maybe 300

Imagine not being able to use your imagination to think of what Akai could do with 2x the power in these new MPC's after seeing them make the most powerful & best selling gen of MPC's ever.

Massive OT .... and TL;DR below

Oh please. No old men talking about the war. We get it. Everyone is a boon and only the hardcore pre-ren users are the "real mc coy" and also everything was better back then. Every device generation has it's time and the current line of MPCs wouldn't be the most successful ever if Akai would release a 2kXLPlus with exactly the same HW they had back then but a different color and double the amount of sampling memory. I bet some people would like that. But it's sadly not about some people but max profit and everybody else. I have 100% hardware here. Some synth are older than me and some I soldered myself. They all have their quirks and they all sound fantastic. But times change and youngsters wouldn't look at those devices with their asses. Making music with mouse and keyboard? Dafuq. Not for me. But oh well. Times change. I am 42yo btw started making music and spinning vinyl when I was 12 or 13. Couldn't afford shit and nagged others to use their gear until years later. Nowadays I manage the audio hardware and setup of clubs and studios and give workshops on how analog and digital synthesis works.

Over the years I have used a lot of pure HW sequencers, samplers and stuff and always found them too fiddly for the whole production and resorted to a DAW again which I basically hated. Until the X came along which is my first MPC tbh and I bought it to get away from the PC as much as possible because the MPC "...features all the tools to quickly navigate every musical task from writing music and recording audio, to mixing and mastering." which is Akai's claim. It's NOT "make music like it's 1997". And I am pretty sure many people wouldn't buy an MPC if it wasn't for the "play your 'in the box'-game on hardware" claims of Akai.

In my final production/mixing process I switch between the MPC, MPC SW and Ableton numerous times and TBH Ableton is so far ahead that it's a pain to even consider MPC SW usable. And I wouldn't compare the two if Akai's claim wouldn't be that it's so good. So yes we are demanding much more from Akai to be at least somewhat "modern" when it comes to music production. Don't get me wrong I love my MPC and what it can do. I can compose, arrange, pre-mix without even a thought about a mouse and a keyboard and seamlessly switch to the box for final mixing and mastering. But for me that final switch is always "common guys it's 2023 at least let me use my vst3 EQ plugin".

If you are so much into your old devices then keep using them. It's fine. I will watch your process and go "interesting, what can I learn here" But please don't tell new or other folks how they should or shouldn't make music and also try to learn from them. They are not dumb or ignorant just because they do things differently. I for one still spin vinyl and can't understand why a DJ controller is even allowed. But it's not about me. I am a part of history in that department now and people do things differently. Which is fine and stuff develops.

And my last remark: I am a huge fan of the "Mass Appeal" "Rhythm Roulette" YT series where famous hiphop producers randomly buy 3 second hand records, chop them up and flip them. So interesting how different people do things. You know what ... almost nobody uses an MPC. Most use Ableton or Machine. And most just have a laptop with mouse and keyboard and not even a controller. Guess they are all boons then? So to put your views into perspective.

TL;DR - what the hell is this guy talking so much?

Get off your high horses. Times change so does technology. If you are fond of your 60s 2ks 3ks 4ks 5ks whatevers use them, be happy and understand that not everybody is a masochist but wants to finish music But don't drive away people discovering new gear and demanding more than just 20yo tech mindsets. And don't tell people how they should or shouldn't create music. It's a highly individual process.

Back to Topic: We'll see what the next MPC brings. I think most things depend on the MPC OS 3/MPC SW 3 features anyway and not so much on the pure HW except that it's more powerful. And I hope they fix this wobbly and imprecise X screen.

From what l see it looks like a beefed up MPC2000XL. Where was this when l needed it? LOL
Im not sold on this, yet Akai keeps ram non- optional smh. No HDMI to use a bigger screen of your choice makes me say Akai is getting people to spend, and spend. Hell l edit my drums in Audacity free on a 40 inch screen, l could never go back.

Though interesting lm light years in front of Akai

Leak: Akai MPC XL with 4GB, MPC One Mk2, Soft 3.0, and more.....

https://www.synthanatomy.com/2023/02/le ... -more.html

The KikGen wrote:While exploring the last Force 3.2 image update from Akai, someone from the Mpc live X and Force hacking modding custom group found a shell script containing an "ACV5S" hardware id in front of "MPC XL" label. There are also similar traces in the latest Akai images header. So it seems that a new MPC x is about to be released soon, maybe with larger screen, more pads, more knobs, more memory, more etc... to be a XL one !

Cancelled? :Sigh:
It took them 7 years l believe to make the new mpc live . And that was jacked up.
2 years is nothing. I see it coming but l won't buy into it.
You gotta have proof that it's getting cancelled or its pure speculation.

If it's really just the XL from the leak, then I am really hoping that Akai offers a mainboard only upgrade for the current line of MPCs. But I bet they won't and in the meantime hope this leak is wrong.
