Is that
really why he used the sample?
It's far too tempting to construct dramatic narratives when it's much more likely that he just came across the sample pack from the magazine it was published in (which featured the sequence on a disk), misunderstood or overlooked the license, and used what appeared to be a usable sequence.
Once upon a time, many music magazines would supply sampled patches from keyboard workstations. For many years they were allowed to do this until some time in the early 00s, one of the major keyboard manufacturers asked them to stop.
Now, if you examine the samples they asked the magazines to stop distributing, you might find some of those sounds were partially derived from other romplers and sampled kits.
There was a lot of back and forth in the early days of sampler ROMs.
The above narrative presumes a lot of intent
You know, it is allowed to offer some independent comment and insight on these products, it's normal to also look at some negatives, room for improvement etc. Nothing against this guy specifically, he's got good tutorial content etc, but these one-sided 'team-Akai reviews' are a bit cringe.
