Even my 23 year old EMU has a 'Find loop' feature. Doesn't always work but it tries, and sometimes comes up with some rad shit depending on the material..

The MPC's looping isn't exactly something to write home about anyways. You might as well just chop the sample into your actual loop. Once you release the key, the note stops when it hits the end of the loop. Its useless for 'sustain loops' like strings and whatnot because it wont follow through and play the end of the sample after the loop ends (unlike every other pro sampler in existance).

@UKUDO, I'm pretty sure PAD12 in sample edit is taken actually. When Im in the sample editor on my OG Live, I use Pad 9 (lit up green) if I want to hear the whole sample from start to end, and I use pad 12 (its lit up red) when I just want to 'audition' it with a Note On. I think Pad 12 may do the same thing as Pad 11, but its definitely not unassigned.

Exactly
It takes time to learn the Skill of Making Music. It gets easier over time. There is NO Magic Button. A lot of users want that Magic Button. Unfortunately we have to use our ears. Technology has aided us in the Visual Part of Makin Music.

Sight AND Sound is whats needed!

Yes indeed. No magic needed, just DSP 101 entry level course stuff. ;) I got the idea from Nord's sample editor which had a "find sustain loop" function and I was surprised how well it worked. When exposed to Akai's offerings, I thought, this sucks and it can't be this hard. To see what could be done, I've made some experimental Python programs which find good sustain loop points for Akai keygroup programs, using fundamental frequency detection and correlation, and I've been surprised how good the results can be, with my entry-level DSP programming skills. I'm thinking, if it is this easy, then Akai haven't even tried. Let's hope they try one day.

No magic wand requested. it‘s about avoiding 90% of a 4 bar loop to only audition the transition from end point to start point. Done this in DAW countless times...

If I'm understanding your question right, go into the sample edit screen. Find the start point you want. Adjust the end point to be roughly where you need it. Then press and hold pad 13, while adjusting your end point with the qlink. This will loop the sample as you adjust your endpoint so you can hear if it loops perfectly.

Little side tip: if you want your loop to match the project BPM, you can use the Tune function and go by BPM. Enter the amount of beats, so 4 bars x 4 beats per bar = 16, then click on match. This will pitch your sample up/down though. If you want the original pitch, use pitch shift and do the opposite number as the tune. So if tune went to 2.45, you would pitch shift down, so -2.45.

Hope this makes sense

Exactly this. No gimmicks or AI or anything requested. Just quality of live

jjos2xl has a cool feature, similar to native instruments kontakt, that splits the sample view in two halves, on the left you have the end of loop, on the right the beginning, this way once you have found the "more or less" good loop point, you fine tune it by matching the end with the beginning, and of course you can audition it.
i miss many of jj features...really cant understand why akai isn't implementing at least some of the good stuff he showed them...

exactly this should be a basic aspect of making loop based music; yes we can all use tools but ur musiccal taste and intuition should tell u what to loop and where the appropriate loop point is.

I said this jokingly earlier in the post; but as they say; many a truth is said in jest

That guy makes some rad tools for samplers. Session2Wav is one of the greatest apps ever written heh.

Looks like a great tool.
however for desktop apps I am quite happy with what I've got.

The buggin situation is as follows. I find a melodic sample.
I trim the sample to get the loop quite well.
I let it loop.
sounds good but it feels a bit of
I change the end point and listen to the whole loop again.

I know, I can look at the waveforms to look for quite a match, but sometimes it takes some iterations to get the loop right. And I really don't want to listen to the whole loop over and over.

I just want to listen to the last seconds of the loop AND the transition to the start. So let's say the last 2 seconds followed by the first 2 seconds.

Maybe my workflow is wrong here or its some kind of OCD but the loop must loop perfectly to my ears

Thats what Pad 03 is for in Sample Edit Mode. "To Avoid 90% of the 4 Bar Loop" when editing the Transition

Str8 Magic
