anyway i think you are totally wrong re: high frequency. if you have the bad habit of filtering out very high frequencies you just kill what's called the "air" of a signal, its higher harmonics, which are barely audible but contribute to the sparkling quality of a good full range sound.
of course nowadays people are used to listen to music with very shitty sound systems... but that's a problem, not a feature
You are right about the names haha oops. I am not sure there is a "right" or "wrong" when it comes to me filtering or eqing my mixes the way I want to hear them. If i dont like hearing the sounds above 16khz i will knock em off if i wanna lol. it's my art!
I understand that if you limit the freq before the end of the subsonic spectrum you lose the air. That's the point. Despite you not liking it that's where tape bottom and topped out so if you recorded your super high def 24bit 96k full nyquist master copy to tape you'd end up filtering it in the process. I was merely describing how to emulate a shitty sound that is more familiar to analog era folks. MP3 runs out at 18kHz so all that extra dynamic range up to 22kHz is gone widdat as well.
I wasnt describing how to create a ballanced mix.
Ego te absolvo.
