akai eb16 fx chip ??

All in all, if you want better effects, save your money get a soundcard which you should have anyway, sell that card if you have it, and use vst's
Why wouldnt you? You can make your sounds sound totally different, with filters, delays, crazy effects, seriously an unlimited amount of effects are out there, some free some not, compressors eq's etc.
I have been making music for a while now and through my years of using different gear, the one product ( as far as effects go) I would never suggest is that crappy excuse for effects.
I spent a long time tweaking the effects in that card and was never satisfied but maybe thats because I have high expectations of what my sounds should sound like. Anyway argue if you guys want, but the bottom line is you can do much better without that card.

you can automate the fx sends and levels using the step editor to insert automation commands. same as with level and pan settings. you can do some wiked gated fx. using the step sequencer to bypass the fx send ryhtmicly.

nano, i was talking about, RECORDING automation...

here we go: go into mixer settings>>>go to set up in mixer screen>>>turn "record mix changes" to yes>>> highlight a parameter for a sound that you want to rec mixer changes (pan,levels) ect...

I used to use this trick to REC pan&level automation, and with you guys asking ?? bout the EB-16 make me wonder about automate dem...


Also before rec your automation make sure you're on an unused track...
Although i know this trick from long, I never try it for FX before, and it simply works...fine!!!

And yes, basically I've peep this trick name "Automating mix changes" from mpc2000XL.com... Props...

...and IMO, it's less work then by Step Editor...AFA i've never try to automate via StepEditor...

He was talking about recording automation too, just by the step method instead. Reason being is that he was talking about "gating" the fx send. To do that you have to flip from 0 to a higher number (like lets say 64) in a single step and then back in another single step. Thats how gating works, can't do that live with a knob. It's just a cool tip he gave for a different type of effect you'd have to know how to do since the MPC doesnt do it automatically. Basically its like a tremelo on the fx send.

The EB-16 is a fine addition to any MPC. It is the same effects engine that has been used in 3 generations of the professional Akai S-series Samplers for use in countless music hits, movie scores and commercial jingles.
