I am preparing a live set and have 10 tracks. I've broken it into two projects of 5 songs (sequences) each. All of the songs in the first half have an audio track (approx 3'30" stem for each), all have a simple midi program for click to an ext drum machine and most have maybe 4 to 8 tracks of triggered samples (drum programs). A few also have a track or two of VST programs.

In the last few days these projects have begun glitching a lot and usually stopping dead at a certain point. After a few seconds I get control back. Obv this is not acceptable for a live situation and I'm trying to find out what is causing it. Some of the samples in the drum programs are 4-8 seconds long. Am I better off using Clip Programs for those?
I don't think it's the stems alone that are causing this since one of the glitchy sequences has no stem at all.
I check the CPU usage and it says 70%. Memory is 57%.
Thoughts?

The first 2-3 days of the newest firmware I had no problems. Days later now when I get further into beatmaking I’m getting crashes and freezes once or twice and hour. No audio tracks, 3-4 drum pgms, 4 plug-in programs (mini d, opx, strings, hype), no midi, 1 seq, 32bars, maybe up to 10 tracks. Can’t remember the cpu % but I’m pretty damn sure it’s not much as I’ve done this same thing in previous firmware w/ little to no crashes.

This newest firmware is feeble, weak and needs an iv. It’s not you. I wouldn’t trust it live on stage w/ the latest firmware.

No. I haven't touched the software version at all yet. I am working entirely on the MPC One.

Thanks for the reply.
I am actually on firmware v2.10.0
I haven't upgraded for that very reason.

I think your references to 'vst programs' was confusing people (as there's no VST support in standalone).

Could you clarify exactly what you mean by 'vst programs'. Native synth plugins? If so, which ones? Some of them are real CPU and memory hogs.

Beyond that, excessive use of warping and overuse of certain FX plugins are potential red flags.

People “say” that, but, you can always go back in firmware.
Either way, newest ver’s caused me lots of crashes lately in small and med sized projects with maybe around 30-40% cpu used and 30% ram used (I looked this morn).

Apologies. Yes, I did mean native synth plugins. Now that I think of it, I believe I am using these in both of the sequences that crash. I'll have to check that out. I used them mainly to save on CPU! Silly me.

And yes, I planned on testing the Clip Program vs Drum Program CPU usage idea as well. Thanks.
I haven't relied on warping at all and I'm sparing with FX, so it's not that. Must be those native synth plug-in Programs.

Take away things one at a time and see what works, when it crashes or not. Process of elimination.

@glomag01
FYI Studio Strings is 1 the most CPU hungry, just 1 took up 37% or something crazy. So be mindful of each plugin's CPU usage. - I should make a list of all that info
Akai should make a "Home-Studio Strings" version like how they offer Fabric XL & Fabric.

You can can always sample the Synth tracks & Flatten hungry FXs on a pad to save CPU.
