MPC Stems - Coming Soon

I have not used the software at since i got the live in 2017; but I can see my self using the software just to get stems

If you wish to separate stems on the PC, then why not peruse the wide choice of free tools such as Stemroller ? The value of MPC is integration, the whole being more than the sum of the parts. If you bear the complexity cost of the PC, then reap the benefits of choosing best of breed tools instead of staying within the Akai system !

for convenince i prefer to work all in the box; so at least doing stems in controller mode I can do everything from the mpc live screen, i dont like to do much of anything on the PC with regard to production; until after the beat is tracked out, but all the creative stuff i like to get done without looking at the screen.

also I am not obsessed with the so called best quality; the akai stems sounds good enuff for me; but i have never been obessed with the highest quality sound.

i'd rather use mp3 instead of flacc, even tho flacc is said to be superiour; but imo the sound difference is neglible in most instances.[/quote]

FYI. If you don't mind sampling from your phone or tablet, KOALA has stem separation.

i have always prefered purpose built machines rather then using phone or tablet; as i like having pads and other items to control the sounds and inputing of notes rathern then a laptop and controller etc

also why do u think akai has delayed the implmentation of the stems feature for standalone?

and what are the implications; presumably there will be limit in how long the sample length can be in standalone mode, which is fine.

but as it is the same algorithm I just wonder why this has been delayed?

We can only speculate and much depends on the library Akai chose... For example it could be cross-platform issues from x86 with CUDA and OpenCL, to ARM and puny GPU.

I'm speaking of the tablet/phone as a source from which to sample. I agree, never cared much for tapping on a glass screen or inputting notes with a mouse. But as a source for material to sample.. iPad is invaluable.

It’s very much possible it never ends up in standalone.

I don't know, but you made me think of why the Force wasn't said to have Stems coming so far. Maybe because it has disk-streaming & can have samples way pass the MPC standalone limit, that they need to decide on the best way to deal with that.

Either way I'll be happy to have on the Force whatever stem limits the MPC standalone gets then no stems at all.

Re: stem extraction... Myself, I've mostly used whatever I can grab from Youtube as the source material for extraction. This already puts some kind of a limit to how good the extraction results can be. Random people put something on Youtube, using whatever tools and methods, and then Youtube encoded it with whatever they wanted to back then. Certainly the extracted stems can't be _better_ than what was put in.

Music is gonna be sounding like complete shit once more heads start extracting stems from their YouTube crates

Browsing YT you could get the impression that Akai might drop a stems feature *troll*
