I believe the track mutes are still per sequence. The confusion from what I can tell is that no one is explaining that the arranger is a view of the sequence. They keep showing people making a full arrangement in a single sequence. This essentially is a more direct way of doing song-to-sequence. From what I can tell, you can still have smaller sequences with their own track mutes. But you have to go through song mode, convert to sequence, to get the full arrangement of multiple sequences into a single sequence/arrangement. I wish they did some kind of hybrid solution of Maschine's scenes/arranger that saves you time doing the conversion and it would allow you to still change the order and events of the sequences.

In the Marlon Diggs video, he demos how track mutes are global. He copies a sequence, changes the mute states and it'd clearly global when he tries to toggle between the 2 sequences.

The sequencer is pretty much exactly the same, it just looks completely different now (and a bit confusing). The 'Arranger' is really just the 'Track View' from the MPC Software. You dont HAVE to do a whole song in one sequence. Sequences are still there, Song Mode is still there, everything in that respect works exactly as it has, you just get a new 'overview' with the Arrange screen (and the MPC 2 Track View is still there as well).

You guys complaining about the public beta not being available right away. Trust me, you'll be happy they waited for the beta testers to do an initial run.

Surely track mutes are still automatable (is that a word?) so record the mute info at the beginning of a sequence.

This really doesn't make any sense- hopefully its just a glitch in the version he has!

I'm guessing that they are releasing the public beta to get some user feedback?

I wish the overview was for song mode also.

If they can make so the programs are automatically converted into kits that would suffice; as Programs and kits are basically the same thing far as I know.

Programs have not been ditched, they still exist as an entity outside of your projects as xpm files, e.g. drum kits and keygroup instruments.

When you load a program into mpc3 it’s effectively absorbed into the target track. So there’s no program hanging around in project memory, you just now edit the track instead via track edit (which is basically the old program edit)

I assume that, just like the force, you can still save programs as xpm files from a selected track (effectively ‘extracting’ the program data from the track), but also export the entire track as well (including all macros and various other settings) as an xtk file

But that's the only place you can use it.

Duplicate the track and you get a unique copy. Editing one does not affect the other.

Same with plugins. Now only have 8 tracks. 1 unique plugin on each.
I can't have 4 plugin tracks of bass variations to play with track mutes.

I'm really struggling with os3 my whole workflow was wiped out in a single update.

MPC-Tutor wrote:If it’s not something you can workaround with midi routing then I suppose you have the option of sticking with mpc2, that way your existing workflow can continue, although I assume there will be no more bug fixes for mpc2

Aye. Rolled back last night. 18 month old X will now likely receive no new updates.

Yes. Midi sends are possible but not particularly conductive to a good workflow. Keeping 8 blank tracks for plugins or kits/keygroups and having to navigate to them to get to plugin edit screens will get old quickly.

Tried that after 2.8 hit to get around the new mute format not letting midi pass when muted.

I like the new GUI and some great features have been added but I can't get around being forced into a linear workflow.

I can't believe how many haters here are on the forum.
I mean they will update the software FOR FREE, included features to the already most advanced standalone workstation/sampler ever created.... and until now it´s not even released and they create a public beta for the users to test it out and give them feedback...
I mean,.... really.... what do you want more???

nobody is forced to do the update, it´s simple as that.
all this negativity is a shame and only one sign how much goes wrong in this world.....
