Same exact way Digital Performer works when it comes to virtual instruments. I never quite understood the logic behind it, but you basically have an instrument track where your plugin lives, and still had to create a separate MIDI track that points to it. I think they have since changed the workflow to where its instrument and midi on the same track, but for decades DP worked this way where you needed two tracks to play a software instrument. Everybody I know that uses DP seems to think its 'normal', its just a different way of getting to the same place.

Can someone remind me why not use the computer daw for this arranging and even sampling and midi stuff?seems like we never get there with the hardware.But i do realise there’s a vibe and possibly a flow with HW.But i just cant decide anymore which hardware will do what the Daw will do easily.Force or MPC? So many limitations still…. :cry:

This is the thing though. Many of us use mpcs because we don’t like making music in a DAW

I’m not complaining but I’m worried it won’t feel like an mpc. I could be wrong and it’ll be the best of both worlds but the concerns are legit and not just “hate”

This is exactly how Xpand2! works. VST sits on its own track and midi is channeled to any of the 4 sound slots.

Akai force has been 3.x.x since conception. now what's the force gonna get to make it original and different? Abandon? lol

Launch scenes, 8x8 pads, scene handling buttons, crossfader, track select buttons, ... I forgot it always had those to begin with. Maybe Akai will make a Force software update that lets it be a remote controller for MPC3. So with the low low price of a Force you could have a proper tactile control surface for your MPC3. Then they could even let the MPC3 have launch scenes and all that.

I'm curious to what users think of the new one to one track workflow? I will definitely miss being abke to load up 10 kits on a single Drum Program track and cycle through them, but I also see the advantages of less headaches when changing sequences if different programs are on different track numbers. Gotta update for the new mixer, though, thats huge. Has anyone heard anything about updates to the keygroup engine?
