Same exact way Digital Performer works when it comes to virtual instruments. I never quite understood the logic behind it, but you basically have an instrument track where your plugin lives, and still had to create a separate MIDI track that points to it. I think they have since changed the workflow to where its instrument and midi on the same track, but for decades DP worked this way where you needed two tracks to play a software instrument. Everybody I know that uses DP seems to think its 'normal', its just a different way of getting to the same place.
