I mean, I get that the Play series may not be your wheelhouse and you have no use for these sorts of third-party Expansions, but - come on - Native Instruments and Akai/InMusic have partnered - that's HUGE.
This would be like Apple and Google partnering to release a new phone.
NI had to bow down and kiss da ring of Akai
Maschine has not been any real competition for Akai for years (once MPC One came out it was a wrap)
They have been chasing Akai for years trying to catch up; despite being ahead at one point, but they fumbled the ball and now they have conceeded defeat, by jumping on the bandwagon.
Sounds was always NI strong point; they lucked up on machine, but they got arrogant after machine got to 2.0; success got to they head.
They became complacent flogging soundpacks and trying to build a machine ecosystem with maschine jam.
Now they have been humbled; maschine is a dying platform; lets see what other NI instruments they can bring over to MPC land; even if they do kontakt lite/intro; so people can import their own 3rd party kontakt libraries, that would be cool
