So far my main drum programs [for my 808/909 sounds. etc] are all triggering near the end of the sample. The envelopes are not shifted, and the full sample is loaded, but I'm hearing only the second half of the sample tail. So Kicks, Claps, Rimshots are almost non-existent. :(

Of all of the Mac apps that worked in Catalina, Big Sur, or beyond, MPC Maid is the only one that launched and it won't open up old programs from my CF Card. RS-16X, MPCPad187 and 2000XL don't work in any OS made in the last 7-8 years.

Has anyone else been down this road yet, with any workarounds? I have dozens of sequences to convert/update and really don't want to lose all of the work I put into the MPC-1000 over the last 10 years.

Sorry to resurrect this thread once again!

I'm about to be in this very same boat! I've been using the MPC1000 for years now (JJOS2XL) & I'm finally having to get a new machine for various reasons, getting the MPC Live OG next week.
So - from what I can gather, PGM files are possible to transfer but a lot of data gets lost in translation, this I'm sure I can handle by bouncing all the audio samples from the 1K to maintain fx / filter / pitch / volume / master eq & comp settings & recreating sample kits on the Live - keeping the exact same sample to pad configuration. Hopefully this should work! (?)
I'm more concerned about transferring sequence files across & whether this will work & what issues may surface. All my joints are made of individual sequences arranged in song mode, & then converted back to a single sequence.
One possible workaround if this method fails - I'm thinking it maybe possible to export these completed songs as midi data instead of JJOS data??

For context - I use the MPC for two separate live projects & gig regularly (currently booked up almost every weekend up until April, so far!) so I have 4 separate folders full of data / samples etc to migrate across to the MPC Live, it's gonna be a lot! I'm well aware there's gonna be issues & I'll need to put some serious hours / days / weeks in to make the big move for sure, but if I can keep the actual song intact I'm hopeful it won't be too painful an experience!!

Thanks y'all & hoping - seeing as this is an old thread - that a few folk that may have done the same thing can share some experiences!

Also, I recently transferred about 60 beats from the 1k/2500 to the Force which is basically MPC. The JJOS XL has 2 filter per pad that I used a lot, but I was still able to match the with just 1 per pad on the Force. It takes min to work it out bc the JJOS & the new new MPCs have different parameters min/max values for some thing like cutoff goes up to 100 on the JJOS but 127 on the new MPCs.

Also & this may just be a Force thing but I'm sure I heard Lampdog who uses a new MPC mention this also, that when you load MPC1k/2500 program into the new MPCs you have to turn the fine tune down to like -36 to match the pitch. This part drove me crazy. Like it's the same beat but something is slightly off. Don't want nobody to go thru that BS.

Yeah I noticed that was a particular issue people were having with the migration - the 100 / 127 value thing in particular!
Thanks! I think if that's the worst of the issues, just manually fixing all my EQ's / volumes / filters / FX parameters, it shouldn't be too bad - I've already mentally prepared
myself for a week or so of intensive work!!

You may also have bring the level on the new MPCs way down to match the MPC1k level if you normalized the samples on the new MPCs after loading the drum programs.

BTW, one of like 5 the samples I recent moved to the Force clipped after normalizing & was trying all kinds of filter & vol settings to get them to match. The tom sample on 1k was more round & bassey but the normalized version on the Force had a stronger attack & less low end. It wasn't until I really looked at in the sampled editor that I noticed the sampled was clipped. I just sampled it into Force from the 1k & it sounded exactly the same even after normalizing it. I need to investigate this more to know why only that sample clipped. Just wanted to throw that out there as something to maybe look out for.

Thanks for the heads up! Yeah it's gonna be a messy transition..
Getting the Live on Thursday so I'll post my results & findings over the weekend!

Update! - On initial purchase test I imported a JJOS PGM file (along with it's samples) - it worked! - kind of! All samples were on the correct pads on the correct banks. I did notice that the samples & drum break I was using on this particular test beat didn't sound in time so I'm not sure if pitch adjustments translated - but certain samples that I had on fx sends on the 1k were correctly routed through an fx send on the Live (running mpc3) - albeit not my chosen fx of course!
Gonna spend the day tinkering & trying out sequence importing etc - to be continued!

That wasn't me.

Program pad assignments are most likely to make the jump intact. Not all features import or translate perfectly though. You, me, many others know/found that out already.

My bad, I thought it was you. Anyway, you're right about certain things not translating 100%. Luckily out of 60 or so beats that I moved to the Force I was able to with a ton a patients, match everything except for like a beat that had a sample that used parameters that's not on the new units, I think it was negative values in the LFO section or something like that. This just reminded me I need to get back on project & finish working that out.

That was me! Newbie on the MPC Live after 12 years of JJOS on the 1K. Had my first day sitting with it & exploring how it works, importing a beat from the 1k - I gotta say, I'm having a really hard time with it on the MPC3 firmware. After doing more research on how people are doing live sets with it similar to how I work, seems the best option for me is to roll back to the last / best version of mpc2.
Going back to separate projects & sequences should make the initial migration of data a little less head wrecking - plus it seems the new version doesn't seem to make it practical to load up 15 - 20 songs in one go, which is what I need to be doing for gigs.
