I heard good things bout MTV music generator back in the day; I was on Reason or Fruity loops back then, I recall that the bass tones could indeed be used as lead sounds on the DR202.

But yeah, lotta people was going through they old beat archives around the pandemic time; but I would interested to hear that beat tape when it drop.

MTV Generator was a classic . I still have the disc for part one on psone and PC.

The DR202 shines when you put it thru some external FX & the filter is kinda unique sounding. It's also very dirty in a good way if your into the Lofi thing. I'll you know when the DR album is done.

I was so new to music at the time I couldn't really appreciate what it could do. I want to get it again to see what I create now 2 decades later or at least sample some of the sounds.

I still have mtv music maker for psx. it was a pretty fun program. I also have beaterator for psp, gameboy camera, and mario paint. My friend told me about "acid pro 2.0" around 1999, and that was my first experience with audio production using a daw. I used to use sound forge for tone generation and then make beats with the noises. Ironically i still swear by acid pro / acid music specifically for the beatmapper wizard, its about 1000 times easier to make chopped up boom bap style stuff or weird aphex twin type shit.

I had Acid Pro also; back when it was Sonic Foundry, then brought out by Sony; that was defo one of the piorneer software for that seamless loop/beat matching, then Abelton took the batton.

Back when there was some mystery surrounding the production process; it was defo more fun back then and a less saturated marketplace.

the MPC Key 37 was first announced in June 2024

so if Akai dont announce the Live 3 this month; then we likely wont hear anything until September - November 2025.

Hopefully we get something this month; but far as the next gen X; think that will def be the end of the year

I think that was the last version of it I got before I ditched ACID/Cubase and went to Logic Platinum. Shit wasn't that like around the time Windows ME came out?? I think I remember buying the ACID update at the same time I bought my WinME upgrade hah.

I wish we get the dual LPF out of the Yamaha RS7000 & some of the sequencer possibilities.

I went from MPC 60 & S950 (60 was the only thing I knew/had for 10 years; never used a DAW before) to S2400 when it came out... then (trying) to go back to MPC asap (once I sell S2400; it's taking forever).

Planning to get an X SE on ebay/reverb.
Been researching these modern MPCs plenty on&off for years. Should be a treat with all its' capabilities! And just use RX950 and SP950 for 12bit flaves.

Just really miss the MPC's midi-sequencer, workflow and DNA.
