Scratched MPC

Hi I recently bought an MPC Live 3 from an online retailer in the UK and after opening the box for the first time found these scratches on the Touch Strip display.

Has anyone else noticed this with their new MPCs ?

You sure that there isnt a protective plastic layer? Kinda looks like you can pick and peel it off. If not someone played with your mpc either before shipping or during transit..

Yes there wasn't any plastic on the LED, thank you for confirming Lampdog.

Are they actually scratches or soap/water streaks? It still shouldn't be there if it's brand new. It's been used & I would return it.

Does any other MPC Live 3 owner have the same issue ?

I've seen people discussing how the touch strip screen is prone to easy scratches, mine is fine but I carry it around in a protective case. That said I have a similar touch strip on my MPC Studio2 which is heavily scratched and I've used that thing twice. Seems like it's very easy to scratch, ultimately is's black glossy plastic.

But, are you 100% sure it's scratched and not just greasy smudges? Have to tried cleaning it with an alcohol screen wipe?

New out of the box, there should be no scratches. If it is scratched then send it back, @£1300 it should be immaculate - or ask for some money back as it's potentially B-stock (e.g. a return after someone changed their mind).

Which retailer? If it's Andertons, they will take it back with no quibbles whatsoever.

Which case are you using ? I’m surprised there still aren’t a lot of options out there .

This claims to be a version without the toraiz branding but the one I received was still the pioneer version, there’s also a similar udg one but without the additional storage layer, that’s a around 55 I think.

Any case for the toriaz sp16 should be fine

For a while I was thinking about getting the MPC 2500, I kind of like the idea of less features compared to latest generation of MPCs.

But the prices are high at the moment and maintenance of Q-Links and Sliders may be an issue.

Also is there a way to render tracks, like the pad sounds in either the original or JJOS, like you would in the newer MPCs ?

Qlink soldering on the 1000 and 2500 is probably the easiest job to do even if you are a noob .

Oh yeah I remember you posted it the last time. They were sold out in the US when i looked before.

I got the 2500 with JJOS cool box, but new MPCs are way better & sounds just the same but can get a lot louder without clipping (24bit=higher headroom & low noise floor). I would just get any of the gen1 MPC or the Force & limit myself to the features that's on the 1000/2500.

I don't get why people think the extra features are going get in the way. Just set up the 16 Pad Menu shortcuts to the features you want to have quick access to them & ignore the rest until you need them. Either way, good luck!
