Made a ton of beats yesterday and ran into three bugs (pretty much classic Akai—new OS means we all need a bit of patience).

Quick heads-up for headphone users:
1. After a restart, I got a really nasty audio spike. One of my longer samples had developed a bunch of brutal peaks—straight into the ears. It actually reminded me of those terrifying spikes in VCV Rack back when it was still in beta. So if you ever see something like that in the waveform, take your headphones off immediately. I didn’t… I even played it twice ‍♂️
Honestly, this is something they should fix with a built-in, non-disableable limiter to protect people’s hearing. Stay safe.
2. I had three samples go missing after working on a project that was first saved internally and then moved to external storage.
3. Every time I resample, I have to do it twice. The first attempt always results in a silent clip, while the second one works as expected.

Still, I’m stoked and can’t wait to get home from work and keep playing…

I did report this to Akai via email this morning.

Cheers!

I haven’t ran into those problems (yet), but I DO understand the “keep playing” part, soon as I get home from work, same thing!
It’s an addictive lil machine.

I haven't hit any of those issues either, but I did upgrade firmware pretty early on. Just to confirm... did you upgrade the firmware? I'm not sure what it fixed... but there might've been some of those issues on the earlier 1.1 firmware.

some more random buggy weirdness:

- all my sample skipbacks have a distortion in it (with and without the fx on it).
- if u set the fx monitor to on and the pads to fx off it still resamples with fx
- resampling or skipack the midi appears to give empty midi sequences
- triggering of samples feels not super tight

Hi from Germany,

To everyone who already owns an MPC Sample:

I've just tested it in MIDI Slave mode.

There seems to be a significant bug with the current firmware 1.2.1.
As soon as it's triggered externally via MIDI, all the kick drums have a distorted noise.

The kick drum sounds overdriven.

This only happens when it's running in Slave mode. As soon as it's running independently, the noise disappears.

It only affects the kick drums.

The issue occurs with both USB and MIDI cables.

I've reinstalled the firmware several times, without success.

Can you confirm this?

Thanks!

I feel this too. It’s a loose trigger or minuscule delay from pad bang to audio being triggered. Really noticeable when hitting pads fast and doing manual rolls.

It seems that when receiving MIDI Clock, the sample playback becomes distorted. It looks like there may be a bug in the MIDI input processing.

IDK why I didn’t notice before, but there IS a static problem when pad banging internal and external samples (micro sd). All samples are green, they aren’t touching yellow and I still hear static.

I experience that as well! The first attempt is silent...

Thats pretty crazy
Sounds like they rushed this thing out before 404 day. Hopefully its just the software and not a hardware issue. Class action lawsuit?

Just now exploring resampling, and yep, it’s as you described, first was silence, i thought it was just me. Tried again and it worked.
