The RT Swing feature on the Sample seems to work differently from the MPC’s Q-Link Swing. Instead of applying traditional swing, it behaves more like a non-destructive combination of quantize and a simple backward timing shift.

When RT Swing is set to 0% / 50% / 100%, notes near 0 ticks and 480 ticks are progressively quantized toward the grid according to the selected amount.

Notes near 240 ticks and 720 ticks, however, are not quantized toward a swing grid. They appear to be simply shifted later in time. Applying RT Swing to an already swung sequence pushes these notes even further back.

It might have been easier to use if RT Swing only shifted the 240/720-tick positions instead of affecting both quantization and timing.

the RT swing was frustrating to me at first until I realized it's function was truly in the name "real time". was bummed to hear my exported tracks not affected by the RT swing. for anyone wanting this to be baked in on the samples or become a "destructive" swing so to speak, you need to use the SHIFT+PAD14 "time correct" which allows swing amount to be added to all pads or just individual pads after pressing the "do it!" on B3 (third button above the screen). the RT Swing for me operates as a preview of what the track sounds like with swing added to the sequence. the "time correct" also has the shift function allowing events to be pushed forward or backwards in time on the grid as well allowing for more intense swing function. I havent noticed any changes with the time correct until hitting B3 "do it!" so maybe try to go one sample at a time and make liberal use of the "undo" function if it feels weird. I plan on messing around with the time correct function more today to try to get some really loose sh!t going on a beat I made yesterday.

nice. I was annoyed that I couldnt shift a note early and thought it only had the offset option

The shift doesn’t shift the note off grid far enough for me. How many ticks off is it really shifting it, I can’t figure it out. I have to go into seq edit mode and use the slider to pull the notes off and that is kinda tedious.

It looks like the TC shift function can move notes by up to 48 ticks. That’s about one-fifth of a 16th note, so the timing change is quite subtle. On regular MPCs you can set up to 480 ticks, so this might be an implementation oversight.

Wow! Where did you find this information? I was wondering the amount of ticks, because it’s hard to hear much happening. Thank you for helping me realize I’m not crazy. Lol.
