The clonage of “analog dreams” engine is crazy to me. Multiples of the same exact thing w/ different samples, then again, umm, MPC Live.

Good to know. I haven't gotten any of the NI or Spitfire plugs, but I plan on getting the at least 1 of the Sf. I guess if look at each company engine as one big-ass synth & each plug is like a those sound cards on the old Roland Jv/Xv & EMU romplers from the 90s. So I'm cool with their approach & with the 10-day trial you can sense what pack of waveforms work for you.

Side note: Instead of a 10-day trial, I wish we had 10 24hr sessions that we can use whenever we like.

But, @$20.30, they are cheap, very flexible and still sound good.
I had bought Analog Dreams, liked it, saw that Cloud Supply looked exactly the same, review videos showed the same menus, I thought maybe something was different, welp, only the samples are different. I didn’t buy any of the other ones that look exactly the same. I left it at that.

The NI plugins all have the same 'engine' created (presumably) by AIR. They take the raw wav files from the original Kontakt instrument and effectively use them to create 100 little keygroup instrument presets that can be played and somewhat edited through the engine. These keygroups are very basic, single layer with note stride 3. (as were the original kontakt instruments).

So really what you are getting is a custom keygroup player that routes you to a plugin UI rather than use the native keygroup track engine. If Akai were to offer a way of customising the keygroup track UI we could make instruments like Analog Dreams all day long. For example, my Vintage Synth Odyssey expansions each feature 100 keygroup instruments built around a similar structure (1 to 4 layers, note stride 3, lots of FX and editable params for customisation), so converting these would be easy.

I did notice that Tom Nice Things (Akai Force youtuber now on the Akai dev team) made a casual remark about how with the oscillator update we just need custom UIs for keygroup tracks, so maybe this is a hint that this is happening...

I think that he said that it's not an official statement and it's just something that he thought it would be cool to have.
The problem with this is that same as MIDI track, CV track or any other "hardwired" track types, Program track TUI is just a single object / structure...hmmm.... entity if you will, that is referenced by every single track of that type. With current implementation of TUI there is no way to adjust program edit page appearance based on track name or ID. Without restructuring whole the way TUI page handles and grab its assets, you cannot have track that load certain let's say background without changing that background for other track of that type. They would have to implement loading of some sort of struct that is attached to project file and describe every single track and its assets. This the reason you cannot have nice visual templates for midi programs unless you'll make one giant TUI program with pages upon pages of hardware layouts that can be picked via page selector and which will load all gfx assets into memory at once. Imagine having 200 synth backgrounds, knob filmstrips and other assets loaded at once with a single midi track just to have access to a few you currently own :Sigh:

I recently just tried the Terrace Martin MPC3000 emulation plug in and if you like the sound of recording hot into classic mpcs you can’t go wrong with it. Really nailed the distortion/clipping. Akai would be wise to do something similar

Yeah, we're saying the same thing in different ways. I don't mind the conformity. If each plug had a different structure & features that would be its own insanity. Any favorite NI plugs?

I now about Nicethings & watched most of his videos before he got hired by Akai. What site did he mention that? Fb?

there is a "data.qbqz" file in the synths/native instruments folder.
i remember a company called cubiqaudio and i presume, it got eaten by ni. so now its in the belly of inmusic too :)

i guess, this file contains all the audiofiles. so maybe one could easy swap the file and the preset files with some other.

the ui wouldnt change, but who cares.

its not tested and i´m just letting my brain spit some thoughts out. i dont recommend doing such a thing.

Yes I had that plugin in mind too, it sounds really good.

Qubiq joined with InMusic/Akai, Patrice is lurking here every so often.
As for swapping stuff - not feasible in any way
