Hi cyrus - Yeah, I like the Emu filters. I used to have a E5000Ultra, filters were great.

See you,

I don't think it matters, if you're talking about software. It's pretty much up to your knowledge of the program you're using and your creativity. As far as hardware goes, I'm not sure because I don't use a hardware sampler.

I think to an extent it matters what records you use. For example, if you're going for that soul type of sound or jazzy feel I think it will matter more than if you were doing some type of electronic music. You're going to have to sample according to what genre you're producing for. There is always leeway, but the more you stray from the 'norm' the more you'll have to let your creativity take over. You can sample anything, really. If you're really good at sampling you can sample from any source, but if you're just starting out you're going to frustrate yourself if you don't have the right samples to practice on because you'll be sampling the wrong things all the time for the sound you're trying to get.

CRZ wrote:45 king is dope. And at the time, i didn't care for the "hard knock life" song. But I also didn't know what production was at that time either. If you ask me, the track was nothing but "on point" with what Jay-Z had to say and everything and also with the title being "Hard Knock Life". DUH!!!

I think after this song was when people started to get a little carried away with having the voices of young children on their Hip-hop songs. But now we've got something even worse to worry about. Gimmicky Gangsters.

haha, i hope i spelled that right. :)

EVEN IF U Mispelled that the POINT is Clear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If so,

What do you have to say about his beats and the way he samples stuff.???

Personally, I think his beats are dope. Especially that song "Dancing" he just recently produced for GM Grimm (formerly MF Grimm).

J-Zone is the sh1t.

If you havent peeped him, please do, you guys. the man RAPES the MPC.

I got that from the GURU on "The Ownerz" album. I forget which song...I think it's the first joint on the cd.

You see I listen to catz that are well educated.

the whole argument of " i can flip any shitty sample from a crappy record and make it sound dope" is just wrong.

its mad RARE that you hear a DOPE beat that has been flipped from a WEAK record. i didn't say impossible i said rare.

its also rare that you hear a "keyboard" beat that has "soul" or "funk" or just that raw grimy dirty hip-hop sound that we all grew up loving.

neptunes, timbaland, sometimes dre kill it with the composed keyboard beats. Yall aren't them.

you can't tell me that you are so dope that you can "flip anything"

we are at the mercy of our samples MOST OF THE TIME. there are always exceptions.

a lot of yall are fronting. you should know your limitations
