It must be nice to have crazy money and then get on MTV and bullsh*t about how you can make crazy beats with a rock and thumbtack sort of like a Mcquiver of producers.
Why? What dont you people understand? The format is nothing different from your average beat digger armed with wax and an mpc: find some fat stacks of wax, dig thru em, find samples/drums, chop samples/drums, make sequences out of these samples and drums with the mpc, put em in song mode, fire, all in the mpc.
same shit with FL and a good editor (forge, or cep): find fat stacks of wax, dig thru em, find samples/drums, chop these samples/drums(cool edit), make sequences out of these samples and drums (FL), put em in song mode(FL), fire again.
same formula, especially with a midi controller and seeing that FL has loop recording/overdub, etc.
Dont discount all the vst synths around etc. If you peep my soundclick page, the bass line on a couple tracks like somethin jazzy and march madness are nothing more then simple sine wavs that you can create or find, and simple detune em and add loop points on em. Hell, I learned that on an MPC page, but since FL recognizes loop points just like a 2000xl, its all gravy.
and to others thinkin' FL sounds cheesy? Haha, stop usin cheesy ass preset sounds. Its no different then cheesy beats that come out of mpc's when the owner uses nothin but weak ass generic sounds.
I'm sayin, get past that grid sequencer, clickin in shit with a mouse, and try FL with a midi controller, enter shit in live, and keep the snap/quantization setting off (perfect if u want infinite resolution and later slide shit wherever you want).
Cop a nice audio interface. Im using a nice edirola FA-101 10in/10out firewire external interface. Basically no latency, superb sound, therefore, FL sounds great and not like that generic motherboard soundcard people always use when they make comments on FL, and then blame the program for its thin sound. lolololol
And dont discount FL as a sequencer for external gear. Its only drawback is the lack of Sysex support so it wont remember small paramaters and shit but with the MIDI OUT tool that is standard in FL you can control just about any external gear that supports midi; hardware samplers, hardware synths, etc, anything.
Peace to Binger0, he's knowin. It's a sequencer, it sequences the SOUNDS YOU CHOOSE TO USE IN IT, AND IT SEQUENCES SOUNDS THE WAY YOU CHOOSE TO SEQUENCE EM.
Damn I need to make a FL video, side by side with my boy on his sp1200, and show just how similar the process is.
Peep some of my FL beats in the meantime, some are old and wack but you get the point.
